On November 4, Samsung released the official update of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android Jelly Bean 4.3, but a few days later it withdrew it because it contained errors. Now, after a month, the update is available again on its European servers after having worked to solve such failures, related to a notable decrease in autonomy, problems with the WiFi connection, applications that closed unexpectedly and, in the worst case, total blockages of the terminal that were only remedied by removing the battery.
The news in the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-i9300) with Android 4.3 are many compared to what is present in the previous firmware, based on Android 4.1.2. Samsung has completely redesigned the main interface, resembling that available on other terminals such as the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3, while the settings application now shows a tabbed browsing system. On the contrary, despite updating its interface to the most modern available, both the application launcher ( launcher ) and the widgets continue to maintain the style of those originally present in the Galaxy S3, and the Samsung Knox enterprise security platform remains unimplemented. It has also been used to make the Galaxy S3 compatible with the company's recent smartwatch , Samsung Galaxy Gear.
The update, which bears the nickname I9300XXUGMK6, finished development on November 28, and as usual in these cases, it may take a couple of days to appear as available in the terminal (at which time a notification will appear to proceed to install it). Similarly, by accessing Settings> About device> Software update, you can manually check if the new data package is ready to be installed, without waiting for the notification.
Other novelties present in the update to Android 4.3 of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have to do with the improvement of the graphics drivers (which make the GPU perform more) or the arrival of TRIM support (with which the system runs with greater fluency and speed on the phone). Likewise, Samsung has taken the opportunity to update some of its pre-installed applications (such as the calculator, the clock, the contacts, the gallery and the music player), enable the full-screen execution of its native apps, introduce a new keyboard or redesign the lock screen, with multiple widgets and with the possibility of modifying the size of the clock at will. In addition, it is now possible to copy and move files from the internal memory of the phone to the SD card.
Also the voice control of various functions, already present in the Samsung Galaxy S4, makes an appearance in this terminal, accompanied by the new S-Voice app, and more screen modes such as Adapt Display and Professional Photo arrive, in addition to being enabled a new mode adapted to driving.
