Speculating on new folding smartphones has been around for a while. This technology seems to start to take off in a couple of years, and it is normal to see concepts, patents and even some leaks of prototypes or models. Samsung is one of the firms that is giving more importance to this issue. It seems that a folding terminal is not the only thing in their plans. Guess what it is?
In SAMmobile they affirm that, through a report from South Korea, they have learned that the South Korean firm is preparing a prototype of a smartphone with a double screen. This prototype could be a terminal that folds up to 180 degrees. It would have two OLED panels, connected through a hinge. With this, we could transform a terminal with a double screen into a Tablet. In addition, they affirm that from external sources they have ensured that the company has ordered some components to be able to produce between 2,000 and 3,000 units during the first half of the year.
A first step to flexible displays
If we relate this information to what we already know about the Galaxy X, we see that they do not have much in common. And this project would only be a kind of introduction to the flexibility of the screens. It is not a screen that can be folded, as it could be the future Galaxy X. If not two screens, which could be converted into one, but at no time these can be made flexible. Of course, this concept from Samsung will allow flexible displays to be further investigated and developed. As well as its use and possibly the public that is intended for this type of device. About the launch, we still do not know it, and possibly we will see it in a few months, or even, in a few years. We will wait for official confirmation from Samsung.
