The year 2014 will be the year of Samsung tablets. In the absence of a few days for the biggest technology event of the year, CES 2014 that begins on January 7 and ends on January 10, it has been known that the South Korean company Samsung could present a new Nexus tablet at this event 10 in collaboration with Google.
Recall that during 2013 a new Nexus smartphone (specifically the Nexus 5) and a new Nexus 7 tablet came on the market, but there were no news in the Nexus 10 tablet. The latest version of the Nexus 10 came on the market in November 2012, so we are talking about a tablet that has not been renewed for more than a year. Taking advantage of the fact that Samsung is fully focused on releasing a huge variety of tablets for this year, it seems that Google has reached an agreement with the South Korean company to present the new version of the Nexus 10 and commercialize it in the first months of this year 2014.
For now it is only a rumor, since there is no official information that indicates that Samsung will be in charge of the manufacture of the Nexus 10 tablet (Asus could even finally be in charge of manufacturing this tablet). What does lead to think that the South Korean company is chosen to produce the new tablet is the fact that the first generation of the Nexus 10 was manufactured by Samsung. It would not be the first time that this company reached an agreement with Google.
Now, there are also reasons that may lead to think that this news will not finally happen. The first of these is that Google is not very given to presenting its news at technology shows, so it would be quite strange if the new Nexus 10 was presented at CES 2014. In addition, it remains to be seen to what extent it would benefit Samsung to present a new Nexus tablet while presenting its own novelties in the same market.
We must not forget that during this same technology fair the South Korean company is expected to present no less than three new tablets. The first would be the Galaxy Note Pro, a tablet of 12.2 inches and 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. In principle, this tablet would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that would operate at a clock speed of 2.26 GHz. The RAM memory would be 3 GigaBytes and the internal storage would have a capacity of 32 GigaBytes.
Two versions of 10.1 and 8.4 inches respectively would be added to the Galaxy Note Pro, as has been happening for some time with most of the tablets that Samsung launches on the market. In addition to being cheaper versions, these tablets would see their internal storage capacity reduced to 16 GigaBytes. The prices of each of these tablets are unknown. To find out the official prices, we will have to wait for the two most important technology events of this year to take place: CES 2014 (January) and MWC (February).
