Front of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Rumors begin about the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which will be the next flagship device of the company. We hardly know any data about it, but we do know that it will have features inherited from the Galaxy S9. Also, we would like it to have these five features, but for now, we will have to settle for this very recent patent from the Korean Samsung, which suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 could incorporate a fingerprint reader on the screen.
It is not the first time that Samsung has patented an on-screen fingerprint reader. It seems that the manufacturer wants to register their idea before another company does, so they have more opportunities and methods. The patent shows how a small fingerprint reader could be placed in the lower area of the screen. The use for the public would be very simple. Just place your finger on the bottom of the panel and the terminal is automatically unlocked. When the sensor detects your finger , the screen will determine the size and position of the fingerprint and the AMOLED panel will activate an emission of lights that will read the fingerprint of your finger.
An easy way to unlock the terminal
Samsung patent. Different thumb sizes, same sensor located under the screen.
We must emphasize that Samsung has not even announced the possibility that the Galaxy Note 9 has an on-screen fingerprint reader, but it is more than likely that it will implement it. Some manufacturers like Huawei have already done it. Others, however, opt for face unlocking, a method possibly not as secure as the fingerprint reader, but just as fast and effective.
In a few months we will see if this patent becomes a reality, or just one more that goes to the drawer of 'Patents of fingerprint readers under the screen'. In the event that they do not implement it, we know that the reader will not disappear from the back, as the Galaxy S8, S9 and Note 8 already have.
Do you think that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will incorporate a fingerprint reader under the screen?
