Samsung's customization layer adds a very interesting plus to your devices. Do you know all the secrets of Samsung One UI?
If you have a Samsung Galaxy go by opening the Settings section that we are going to review some tricks that you can apply to take advantage of the full potential of your mobile. We are going to focus on those that improve device performance and facilitate your daily activities.
Have two independent WhatsApp accounts on your mobile
You don't need to do weird tricks to have two Facebook, WhatsApp or Messenger accounts on your mobile since Samsung has a function for this called Dual Messaging.
Thanks to this option you can duplicate the messaging or social network apps that you have installed on your mobile. Applications that will work under independent accounts with their own group of contacts. Do you want to try this dynamic? It is only necessary to go to Settings >> Advanced functions >> Dual messaging.
It will show you the applications that you have installed and that you can duplicate. Just choose the ones that interest you and start the setup by following the instructions. If at any time you change your mind and want to delete the second application created, you can return to this section and revert the changes.
Night mode to avoid eyestrain
Most of the popular apps already have the Dark Mode option, but you can apply it to all sections of your mobile with a simple touch.
To activate this option you have to go to Settings >> Screen >> Night Mode. You can have this mode always on, set a schedule, or let the system automatically activate it using your location.
In addition to being a novelty that everyone implements due to the change in appearance, it is an excellent option to avoid visual fatigue.
Keep mobile safe without blocking
Smart Lock is a function that allows you to configure that certain physical places or devices are considered trusted.
And what can this dynamic do for you? When it detects that you are in a trust environment, it will not activate the lock, saving the user from going through that process over and over again, for example, when they are at home. This function is configured from Settings >> Lock screen >> Smart Lock.
Use screensavers without problems
Using screen protectors is almost essential although it can present problems since in some devices it seems that it loses sensitivity. But it will not be a problem on your Samsung, since it has an option that allows you to increase the touch sensitivity.
If you want to test this dynamic you have to go to Settings >> Screen >> Touch sensitivity.
If you try and think it doesn't make a difference, you can deactivate it at any time.
Better interaction with applications
Samsung One UI has many interesting options that allow you to easily access and manage applications. Let's review the most important ones for you to configure your own tricks:
- Perform actions without opening the application
You do not need to open an application to choose a specific action since you can do it from the application menu. You just have to press a few moments on the app and you will see a series of quick actions. For example, in WhatsApp actions such as "Search contacts", "Missed calls", "Search", etc.
- Enjoy applications in full screen
There are contents that are more enjoyed if we do not have distractions on the screen and this can be configured from Settings >> Screen >> Applications in full screen. If you have doubts that a certain app is compatible with this option, leave it on automatic.
- Manage the notifications of the apps
And so that the applications do not become a burden you can configure if you want them to emit notifications or not. Go to Settings >> Notifications >> Recently sent. You will first see the latest apps that have received notifications. You choose one of them and decide which notifications from that app you accept or not, as shown in the third image
- Are there applications that you would like to hide? You can do it with a simple trick. Go to Settings >> Home screen >> Hide apps. Once in that section you will see a list of all installed apps. You choose the ones you want to hide from the applications menu and that's it.
Gestures and better use of the screen
If you want to do without the navigation buttons and use gestures to navigate your device, you can do so thanks to One UI.
You will not have a complete experience but you can apply it in some situations, for example, in the navigation bar. To activate this option go to Settings >> Display >> Navigation bar.
A more intuitive way to interact with the mobile while saving a bit of screen by eliminating the navigation bar.
Another little trick to have better use of the screen is to configure it to use it with one hand. An interesting function for large screens, when you have to write on the street or are doing other tasks. To configure this option go to Settings >> Advanced functions >> Movements and Gestures >> One-handed operation mode.
And a third option that will give us a plus when enjoying content on our mobile is to view the screen horizontally. To activate this option go to Settings >> Home screen >> Rotate to landscape mode. From there, the mobile will automatically display content in landscape mode when rotated.
And if you are a fan of multitasking, you cannot miss the Split Screen view that allows you to have two apps open on the screen. Try this dynamic with your favorite app. Start by opening it and pressing the Recent button to switch the app to split screen and then choose another app to add to the screen.
Always have the notifications that interest you at hand
Notifications can be a headache and more if it is difficult to view. But there is good news, One UI has several dynamics that make it easier to view and manage notifications.
One of them allows you to change the dynamics of the notification panel so that it is easy to view. Instead of relying on the top to slide the notification drawer, you can repeat that dynamic anywhere on the screen. For this, go to Settings >> Display >> Home screen >> Slide down notifications or Quick open notification panel
Another trick to control notifications you will find by customizing the amount that will appear in the status bar. Instead of seeing all the notifications we can configure it to only show the last 3.
You go back to Settings >> Notifications >> Status bar, as you see in the second image.
Increase battery performance
We already know all the typical tips to save mobile battery, such as taking care of the brightness, be careful with apps in the background, etc. But Samsung gives us extra help to optimize the battery with the "Adaptive battery" function.
It is an interesting option because it analyzes the activity patterns of the device to give priority to certain actions and limit battery use to others. To activate this option we go back to Settings >> Device maintenance >> Battery
In this section we move to the menu (of the three dots) and select Settings >> Adaptive Battery. Once we activate this option it will be applied automatically.
But it is not the only option to improve battery performance. As you can see on the screen, you can select that certain apps do not run in the foreground, that they are deactivated if they are not used frequently, etc.
And another tip to save battery is to configure some values to be applied automatically. To do this, we continue in the same Battery Settings section as you see in the second image.
Reduce animations to gain fluidity
Another little trick to improve the performance of the mobile if it feels very heavy is to reduce the effects of movement on the screen, for example, when you open or close an app.
This is one of the advanced functions that we find in our Samsung device. You just have to go to Settings under the option Reduce animations, as you see in the image.
Activate the trash in the photo gallery
When you delete an image on your mobile it is forever unless you use a special application or program. Or if you want a simpler solution, activate the photo gallery trash can.
If you later regret having deleted an image, you can go to the trash and recover it. To activate it, you only need to go to Gallery, press the menu (with the three dots) and choose Trash.
The first time it will ask you if you want to activate it and from there you will always have it available. Although remember that the trash has a limited time to keep deleted items.
Check mobile health in one step
A quick way to know if there are any performance problems with the device is to use an internal tool that allows you to check the status of different aspects of the mobile.
You will find it in Settings >> Device maintenance or Device care. You can do this check manually as many times as you want or configure it to be done automatically during the day.
Samsung One UI allows you to create many configurations for each user to personalize the interface and dynamics of the device. So start by trying the tricks we mentioned and then experiment with your own settings from the Settings section of the mobile.
You may be surprised how the performance and operation of the device can change if you configure it appropriately according to your needs.
