Just yesterday the news broke. Some press units of the Samsung Galaxy Fold were starting to show display problems. Apparently, the problem in question appeared when one of the protective films of the flexible panel that protected the integrity of the two AMOLED screens integrated in the chassis of the Galaxy Fold was removed. Following an official statement from the company, Samsung has announced that it is already investigating the problem. Regarding the date of release of the Galaxy Fold, the manufacturer has no plans to delay the launch of the aforementioned terminal, according to information published a few hours ago by Wall Street Journal journalists.
Samsung is already investigating the Samsung Galaxy Fold screen problem
This has been confirmed by the company a few hours ago. The statement in question states that "they are investigating the problem of the units affected on the screen by removing the protective plastic" which according to Samsung itself, is part of the structure of the screen.
From Samsung they have also confirmed that "more importance will be given to the different notices of the original packaging on the screen protector included in the panel of the Samsung Galaxy Fold". It has not been specified how or in what way the original packaging of the phone will proceed, but everything indicates that several information sheets and plastics will be included warning of the importance of the screen protector remaining on the Galaxy Fold panel.
On the other hand, Samsung has confirmed that "the initial launch plans of the Samsung Galaxy Fold will not be modified" in the different countries where the terminal will be presented next week. According to several Wall Street Journal journalists, the terminal will begin to be sold on April 26 in the United States, and it is expected that it will proceed in the same way in the rest of the countries where the terminal will initially be sold.
Be that as it may, everything indicates that the cases of the affected screens are related to the laminated screen protector, so it is likely that it is not a problem related to the hardware, but rather the resistance of the protector. After all, the film in question is part of the display structure, and its removal can cause irreparable damage to the terminal.
