Design and display
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Huawei P10 boast of design thanks to a metallic chassis in which there is the presence of glass. Both have a fingerprint reader on the home button and rounded lines for a better grip. They are slim and stylish, although the P10 is somewhat thinner and lighter. It measures 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98 mm and has a weight of 145 grams. The Galaxy S7 edge, meanwhile, has dimensions of 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 millimeters. Its weight is 157 grams.
If you are looking for a phone with a large screen and that has outstanding features, the Galaxy S7 edge is the model for you. Its panel (Super AMOLED) has a size of 5.5 inches and a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (534 dpi). But the best thing is that it is capable of curving slightly on both sides. It is in this part where we will find one of the best features of this team. And, we can see notifications without having to resort to the main screen, which will save us time and battery.
The Huawei P10 has a slightly lower panel than its rival. Its size is 5.1 inches and its resolution is Full HD. However, it has a very large screen ratio, 56% higher than that of the iPhone 7. It also boasts a new diamond cutting technology, dubbed Hyper Diamond, which promises greater resistance to scratches. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection is also not lacking. In its case, it does not have IP68 protection like the Galaxy S7 edge, something to be taken into account by athletes or clueless.
Processor and memory
At the power level the two phones are very on par. In this way, if you want to buy one that allows you to work fluently or make use of current and heavy apps, you will not have problems with either. Both are capable of performing perfectly, even with current graphics games. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is powered by its own eight-core processor, an Exynos 8890 (4 cores at 2.3 GHz and 4 cores at 1.6 GHz). This Soc is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM.
The Huawei P10 houses a Kirin 960 processor (four cores at 2.4 GHz and four cores at 1.8 GHz), also accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. The storage capacity is higher in this model, since it has 64 GB (expandable). The Huawei P10 offers 32 GB, although it can also be expanded by using microSD-type cards. Storage is really no longer a problem today with the use of cloud storage services, such as Dropbox or Google Drive. So it is something that you do not have to pay much attention to when choosing one or the other model.
Camera
The photographic section is in recent years in the spotlight when buying a new phone. Every time we demand mobile phones with a better camera, both for the back and for the front. Really, both the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Huawei P10 make good photos. We've tested them thoroughly and know they won't disappoint, even in low-light settings. The S7 edge has a 12 megapixel Dual Pixel sensor with an aperture of f / 1.7.It is not a double objective, but this technology will allow you to use two sensors instead of just one. In addition, it also integrates a dual LED flash and optical image stabilization. It should be noted that this camera is capable of recording videos in 4K. Also, the size of the pixels is larger. Instead of the 1 micron that traditional sensors have, the Samsung camera comes with 1.44 micron pixels. What does this translate to? Basically in sharper and more defined colors.
If you are a lover of double cameras then the Huawei P10 is not going to disappoint you. The first because this model has the Leica seal, which in itself translates into a lot of quality. The second, because it has a double sensor of 12 megapixels in RGB color and 20 megapixels in black and white. The design is completely flat so that the camera does not protrude, which is always appreciated, as it makes the device more elegant and comfortable for the user. It also has autofocus and hybrid zoom. In the front camera it also slightly beats the Galaxy S7 edge. It mounts an 8 megapixel sensor with f / 1.9 aperture. The Samsung team has a resolution of 5 megapixels with aperture f / 1.7.
Operating system and connections
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes standard with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The Huawei P10 is governed by Android 7.0 Nougat with the EMUI 5.1 customization layer. In any case, the Galaxy S7 edge can now be updated without problems to this version of the system and we hope that it will soon do so to Android 8. Android 7 is a stable and fast version that offers many functionalities. One of the most important is the multi-window mode, which allows two applications to be used at the same time from the same panel.
When it comes to connections, none will disappoint. However, the P10, unlike its rival, boasts a USB Type-C port. This will allow you to transfer data and files or charge more quickly. Both also offer Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS, LTE or WiFi.
Drums
If you also usually look at the battery to choose a phone, we must tell you that you are going to have it quite easy with these two models. They arrive with a very similar capacity, although the Galaxy S7 edge comes out narrowly winning. It equips a 3,600 mAh, while that of the Huawei P10 is 3,200 mAh. Both terminals have a fast charging function, so it will be easy to recharge it if we have to run. Normally for half an hour of charging we will have half the battery, approximately.
Current prices
As we said earlier, it is currently possible to buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Huawei P10 at the same price. Free cost 480 euros, which is not bad considering its features. Another possibility is to acquire it at comfortable installments financing them with an operator. In Yoigo, for example, both have a total monthly cost of 20 euros with the rates La Infinita 5 GB (unlimited calls and 5 GB for data) and La del cero 5 GB (100 minutes and 5 GB). In total, the price to pay each month together with the rate is 45 or 39 euros, respectively (with a 20 percent discount on the rate during the first six months).
We recommend that if you have money saved or you can afford it, you get any of them free. They have a good price right now and we don't know until when. Do not forget that their official prices are 600 euros (Galaxy S7 edge) and 650 euros (Huawei P10).
