Three months, from July to September. That is the time it took Samsung "" according to some media "" to achieve a sales figure for its Samsung Galaxy S3 quite overwhelming: about 20 million units.
The data for the last quarter of the Korean company has been positive: earnings continue to rise. What's more, to be exact, Samsung made a profit of 7.4 billion dollars (5.4 billion euros at the exchange rate). And all this thanks to its smart mobile division, a sector in which the flagship product of this quarter was presented last May: Samsung Galaxy S3.
Although the company has not provided exact data, the Reuters agency puts its personal bet on the table: between 18 and 20 million units sold in the three months that have been evaluated. On the other hand, the profit achieved this quarter of 2012 almost doubles what was achieved a year ago at the same dates.
Meanwhile, we must also take into account that the Korean company launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in recent weeks, so it is expected that the last quarter of the year will also have very positive results. What's more, not only will the new version of the hybrid model be available, but also models that rely on the new Microsoft icons will be added: Windows 8 and its mobile counterpart, Windows Phone 8.
In this sector there will be several bets that will help raise "" even more "" the company's position within the world sales ranking. Among the equipment expected for the next few weeks are the Samsung ATIV S smartphone, the Samsung ATIV Tab tablet or the hybrid models "" halfway between tablet and laptop "" Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro or Samsung ATIV Smart PC.
On the other hand, another of the interesting data for the South Korean brand are the numbers that the IDC consultancy has given, in the same quarter Samsung has risen to the top of the pyramid and is positioned as the manufacturer with the highest sales of mobiles of the world. And the fact is that the figures continue to increase year after year: in this quarter , 45 percent more than the previous year was sold at the same dates, going from 123 million units sold to 179 million in the current year.
The consulting firm attributes "" and confirms "" that the good results are given by its new flagship and by the wide catalog of terminals in its possession. It should be remembered that within the company's portfolio you can find high-end mobile phones such as advanced terminals that are below 300 euros, thus being able to reach a wider audience than some of its competitors who only sell Premium terminals and with prices for above 600 euros.
Finally, according to data from the consultancy, Samsung has already achieved a third of the global smartphone market with just over 30 percent share. And, distancing itself from the other brands with an advantage of slightly more than double the contribution.
