Samsung's commitment to the high-end is completed with the Samsung Galaxy S20 +, a terminal that grows diagonally compared to the S20, which we have talked about in this other article. It also grows in some specifications, taking over from the Galaxy S10 + with respect to the S10. The main novelty of the phone comes from the hand of the photographic section, with a camera that is capable of offering a zoom level of no less than thirty increases. Yes, you read it right. The rest of the novelties are not far behind, although they do not suppose a jump with respect to the S20 as the previous iteration was. Let's see what Samsung's bet holds for this 2020.

Design: few differences from S20, except for size
The differences in design of the Galaxy S20 + in relation to the S20 are rather scarce. The first and most important is the size: 6.7 inches diagonally. Recall that the S20 has 6.2 inches overall.
This increase in diagonal interferes proportionally in the dimensions of the device. The height of the Galaxy S20 Plus is 16.1 centimeters, while the width is 7.3 centimeters. The difference in weight between the two terminals is more than 20 grams: 186 grams in the S20 + and 163 grams in the S20. There is nothing.
If we refer to the front of the terminal, the design lines are maintained with respect to the S20, including the only front camera. It seems that this year Samsung has decided to ditch the dual camera setup that presided over the Galaxy S10 +. This similarity between phones also carries over to the rear. In fact, the only terminal whose design varies compared to other phones is the S20 Ultra, precisely because of its photographic module, a module that protrudes from the body several millimeters in all models.
120 Hz is here to stay
The novelty that many have been asking for since the Galaxy Note 10 and that has finally come true. Samsung has implemented a 6.7-inch diagonal panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Although the panel has a Quad HD + resolution, the aforementioned rate is only compatible with a Full HD + resolution. It is understood with the aim of preserving autonomy.
The rest of the panel features are the same as those of the S20: Dynamic AMOLED technology, compatibility with the HDR + standard and so on. It also uses a fingerprint sensor located under the screen, although its technology is unknown at the moment. In this sense, it is very likely that it is similar to the S10, with an ultrasonic sensor that makes a 3D fingerprint analysis.
30x zoom is finally a reality
The rumors were right: the thirty-power zoom hits Samsung's high-end. The Galaxy S20 Ultra, for its part, debuts the one hundred increases, although you can find out all the details in the respective article. The Galaxy S20 Plus, for its part, inherits the photographic section of its younger brother, the S20.
The latter is made up of three 12, 12 and 64 megapixel sensors and wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses. Beyond its specifications, the phone is capable of providing three magnifications by making use of Hybrid Optic Zoom technology. For thirty magnifications the phone uses the 64 megapixel sensor and Super Resolution Zoom technology. The results in our use tests are surprising: a level of detail is achieved never seen in other competitive models, such as the P30 Pro.
The icing on the cake is the camera's compatibility with 8K recording. We can also take pictures while recording in 33 megapixels. However, the amount of FPS of the recording is unknown, although everything indicates that it will be between 24 and 30.
And what about the front camera? Same sensor as the S20, therefore, the same sensor as the S10: 10 megapixels, focal aperture f / 2.2 and pixels of 1.22 um in size.
Exynos 990 and LPDDR5 RAM as the main hardware novelty
The new generation of Samsung comes with hardware that is new compared to the Galaxy Note 10. With the Exynos 990 processor, the phone debuts with 8 and 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a new type of memory that promises to improve times latency and processing speed. It also integrates a 5G module compatible with 5G NSA category 6 networks.
128 G8 is the memory capacity that will be available with the phone at the time of its departure, conforming, as a whole, a configuration identical to that of the S20. The only difference with respect to the latter is found in the battery capacity: (the characteristics are unknown at the moment). It is accompanied by the same string of connections as the S20: NFC, USB type C, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 6…
Price and availability of the Galaxy S20 + in Spain
Samsung has not congratulated the data on the price and availability of the Galaxy S20 Plus in Spain. Everything points to March as a possible presentation date. The price could be around 1,049 euros. We will update the article as soon as the data is official.
