Owners of a Samsung Galaxy S2 receive good news: the Korean company has released the source code to Android 4.1 for this model. In this way, the developers already have material to be able to create new unofficial ROMs.
For months, Samsung has been working to bring the latest versions of Android to its range of products. Such is the case that different versions are currently being released for equipment as different as touch tablets and the manufacturer's flagships. However, although the Samsung Galaxy S2 is in Samsung's plans as a terminal that will update to Android 4.1, no official date has yet been given for its arrival in the markets.
This terminal, which was a great seller, was launched last year 2011. At that time, the terminal marked one of the best brands: 28 million units sold in a whole year. However, this record would be relegated by its successor: the Samsung Galaxy S3, which has already achieved sales of more than 30 million units. Of course, and this without counting the next Christmas dates.
Meanwhile, Samsung has released the source code of the Android 4.1 version for this model, an aspect that indicates that the developers will be able to start working on their particular ROMs. According to the SamMobile portal, information about new functions such as Google Now, new camera functions, and information about the new user interface that the terminal will use can be found in the code.
Meanwhile, the official update has not been released, although from the official account of the Spanish subsidiary on Twitter it is said that the Samsung Galaxy S2 is on the list of terminals that must update to the first version of Jelly Bean; Android 4.2 also belongs to the same family, although the first to receive the improvements would be the current flagships.
Therefore, it is proven that Samsung is one of the few current companies that is working to carry out the massive update of its product range. The latest improvements have gone to several tablets on the market: the seven-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, the 10-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and the middle size: the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 inches.
Also, in a few weeks Samsung has something new prepared; something that will present during the framework of the technology fair CES that takes place in Las Vegas. There are some who bet on a Samsung Galaxy S4, a smartphone that could have an unbreakable screen and that will use plastics instead of glass. Similarly, the creation of the first mobile on the market with a flexible screen would be seen. Although the company's intentions were already revealed days ago with the possibility of being in front of several new teams, among which are: more mobile phones from the Galaxy range, a large mobile based on the Samsung Galaxy Note and a new tablet from 13 inch screen.
