Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S2 ? Did you get it through the Vodafone operator ? Well, you see preparing the flagship of Samsung because a new update has arrived. Ice Cream Sandwich - better known as Android 4.0 - is now available for download to customers of the operator of British origin who have one of the most successful terminals on the market in their possession.
Both Samsung and Vodafone have confirmed that Samsung Galaxy S2 already has its particular update to Android 4.0, the latest version of Google's operating system. In order to update, the user must connect their terminal to the computer and run the Samsung program called Kies . Once the mobile is recognized, the program will announce the availability of the new version.
In addition, from the Vodafone forums it is also reported that customers who want to update their Samsung Galaxy S2 to Android 4.0 without having to use cables, will have to wait a little longer. Specifically until April 17. Date on which Vodafone customers will be able to download the update directly to their terminal. This type of practice is known as update via OTA (Over-The-Air).
On the other hand, Samsung has communicated —both in its official Twitter and Facebook accounts— that said update for clients of other operators (Movistar, Orange or Yoigo) as well as, for terminals that have been obtained in the free market, still is not available and that the final implementation dates will be communicated through their accounts on the most famous social networks of the moment.
Thus, Vodafone is presented as the first operator that allows Spanish users to receive the Android 4.0 update officially and without having to install different versions that are distributed over the Internet: the well-known cooked ROMs.
For the rest, it should be remembered that Samsung has already confirmed which teams would receive this update to Android 4.0. Samsung Galaxy S2 is being the first. However, there is still a list of terminals such as the Samsung Galaxy Note that will arrive in the second quarter of this year. In addition, for this terminal there will be surprises since along with Android 4.0 some new applications will also be added to be able to use the pointer (stylus) known as S-Pen.
Another equipment that should also receive the update is the Samsung Galaxy R; another advanced terminal that should receive its upgrade shortly. This terminal is known for its great resemblance to the company's flagship, although with some changes in the technical characteristics: its processor is somewhat less powerful, its camera can record videos in high definition but only at 720p or, its storage internal is four GigaBytes.
Finally, Samsung also confirmed that some of its touch tablets were also on the list of future equipment to update. Some of them are the great Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 that is not yet sold in Spain.
