Officially, Android 2.2 (also known as Froyo), will not reach European Android phones until September, and Koreans (the first to receive it) until August. But it has already been possible to take a look at the appearance and behavior of this new edition of Google's operating system as the copy of the platform has been leaked. The most impatient could install them on their own responsibility, for which it would be essential to have a Samsung Galaxy S previously unlocked.
The new operating system for the Galaxy S, which goes by the critical firmware name I9000XXJP1, offers some new features for this phone. The first one, which will be extended to the rest of Android terminals, is the fast boot system, which from Google has already been described as the fastest in the entire smartphone market.
Another of the novel points of Android 2.2 Froyo in the Samsung Galaxy S we have it in the screen unlock option. Users of this mobile already know that to unlock the touchpad there are two ways: the shift the main screen or set the gestural unlock (defining a figure with a minimum of four points that have to play face time you want to access). With Android 2.2 a new mode is added, very similar to the iPhone, which consists of moving a horizontal area from side to side. It is an intermediate point between the two options that this device offers so far.
On the other hand, the guys at Google have beefed up the multitasking feature in Android 2.2 Froyo. Not only are mobile resources better managed when we have several applications open, but it will also include a widget specially designed to manage all the programs that are active.
If you are one of the most impatient who cannot wait for the official arrival of Android 2.2 on the Samsung Galaxy S, you should know something. The leaked system update is from the developer trial. That is why it does not include all the functionalities that the final version of Froyo will have. One of the points that are not yet present in this edition is the Flash 10.1 platform, so it will not be possible to have a complete idea of how this version works.
