In the absence of data at the end of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S faces the last commercial push of 2010 with more than seven million devices sold worldwide. These are figures from the international consulting firm Gartner that are echoed by Samsung Hub; figures that crown the smartphone of the Korean manufacturer as the king of the sector in the United States, with more than three million phones sold until the beginning of this quarter of the year.
The figures that Gartner would have provided show that Samsung would have acquired 32.1 percent of the market share of smartphones in North America, improving its presence in this sector with a share of 9.2 percent greater than in the same period last year. Following this dynamic, there are not few optimists who believe that following this upward curve, the Korean firm could reach its estimates of reaching ten million Samsung Galaxy S sold in 2010.
Precisely the US market was one of the tough nuts to crack that Samsung faced to position its first sword against the expected iPhone 4; a contest that according to the data provided by Gartner would have opted for the Korean terminal.
In any case, this dispute should be remembered that it is limited within the limited allocation dedicated to so-called smart phones, a market that in Spain represents only two out of every ten cell phones sold.
In our country, the Samsung Galaxy S can be obtained with any of the three main operators from zero euros. In addition, it can also be purchased freely for about 550 euros.
It is a mobile phone with a one GHz processor, a four-inch multi-touch Super AMOLED screen, Android 2.1 Eclair operating system (free terminals and Vodafone can update to Android 2.2 Froyo) and a rich multimedia system that allows you to play practically any file of audio and video.
