Google begins to sell, again, mobiles directly. Specifically, it has been launched with the latest official terminal: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. At the moment, this option is only available in the United States, although it is not ruled out that the initiative will be carried out in the remaining markets. Its price is 400 dollars, about 300 euros at the current exchange rate.
It is not the first time that Google has sold mobile phones. The same thing happened when the Google Nexus One, the first of the official mobiles of the Internet giant, was presented. However, the few sales of it through this channel, made Google reject the option and that the sale of its mobiles was based solely on operators. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it can be purchased with the Vodafone operator.
However, Andy Rubin comments on the company's official blog that he is beginning his journey of selling terminals again. The price of the Galaxy Nexus - totally free - is 400 dollars. Furthermore, if you try to enter the section of the Google Play store where the sale is made from outside the North American country, an ad will appear stating that the sale is not possible. This is the case of Spain.
In addition, to promote the purchase of the terminal, Google gives away ten dollars of credit in Google Wallet, the company's payment system that makes use of the NFC technology implanted in its terminals. This service was launched last September, also in the United States.
On the other hand, some rumors indicate that this initiative is not only aimed at selling Google's greatest exponent in the mobile telephony sector. And, the touch tablet (Nexus Tablet) could be another reason for the creation of the new store on Google Play - the name given to the old Android Market.
And it was the theoretical tablet is called to be a super-sales. And not because of its technical characteristics, but according to what has been known so far, its price would be below 200 euros - about 150 euros approximately. Of course also it commented that the screen could have a diagonal size of seven inches with a maximum resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Or that its processor would become a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3.
Of course, Android 4.0 would be the operating system running inside it. This would be the case as long as in June - the team's supposed presentation date - the parallel presentation of the following version of Google's mobile platform was not carried out: Android 5.0. On the other hand, the manufacturer that sounds the most so far for its manufacture is Asus. Something strange information knowing that Google bought Motorola in its day and could profit in this regard. Also, those of Mountain View have not confirmed anything about the possible Nexus tablet.
What does seem feasible is that Google could start selling its Samsung Galaxy Nexus in other countries after checking how they are doing in the United States and verifying if this new attempt at online sales pays off. In other words, this initiative could only be a pilot test.
