2018 was a very fruitful year for Samsung. The operator placed a large number of terminals on the market for all types of users. Two of the most prominent were the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Samsung Galaxy A9. The first is distinguished by being the first team to have a completely infinite screen, without a notch or notch, with a small hole in the panel to house the front camera. This is what the company calls the Infinity-O display. This model also has three cameras on the back.
The Galaxy A9 is the first terminal to house four main sensors, a great presentation letter, to which are added an eight-core processor, a battery with fast charge or face unlock. The two teams are already available to purchase, so if you have not just decided today we want to help you get out of doubt.

Design and display
If you are looking for a phone that is out of the ordinary, with some exclusive feature at the design level, the Samsung Galaxy A8s is the best option. The phone wears a nice glass and metal chassis with a front part that is the complete protagonist. Unlike other models of the company, in which the frames are visible on both sides of the panel, those of the A8s have been reduced to the maximum so that there are no distracting elements. For this, the company has not had to include a notch or notch like other manufacturers, has reserved a small hole in the upper part, in which the front sensor is included. In addition, the camera, being placed at the top, adapts to the notification bar. This means that we can see the content of the screen, such as applications or text without any problem.
Samsung Galaxy A8s
If we turn it around, the Galaxy A8s doesn't go unnoticed either. You can see a triple sensor located in a vertical position, next to a fingerprint reader in the middle, and the Samsung seal just below. These details place it on a different plane than the Galaxy A9, although it is true that this model does not leave anyone indifferent as far as design is concerned. It is constructed of metal and glass without a notch.
Failing that, the firm has used small black frames both at the bottom and at the top. These are one centimeter in size, offering the symmetry that many users claim. The rear is very striking due to the fact that it has four vertically positioned sensors. We also have a fingerprint reader and the Samsung seal. In these last two details it does not differ too much from the A8s. Neither in the thickness of 7.8 mm compared to the 7.4 of the latter.
Samsung Galaxy A9
In terms of screen size, both models are very on par. Both have Super AMOLED panels with FHD + resolution of 6.4 inches, in the case of the A8s, and 6.3 inches in the A9. But yes, that extra inch along with the fact that the A8s has a smaller reduction of frames, almost negligible, makes it seem much larger than the Galaxy A9.
Processor and memory
Samsung made the Galaxy A8s and A9 for the upper-mid-range, so power is assured with either one. The first comes powered by a Snapdragon 710 processor, accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage (expandable). The Galaxy A9, meanwhile, has a Snapdragon 660, a SoC that has been around for some time, was launched in 2017. However, it offers eight power cores, four running at 2.2 GHz and another four at 1.8. GHz. RAM memory is 6 GB and space is 128 GB (expandable by using microSD cards up to 512 GB).

Photographic section
The photographic section of the two models deserves special attention. And is not for less. If you are looking for a phone that stands out in this regard, any of them will work for you. However, if the A8s speaks for its bezel-less infinity display, the A9 does for its camera. The equipment includes four main sensors, made up of a 24-megapixel main camera with f / 1.7 aperture, another 10-megapixel f / 2.4 (to zoom at two times), plus a third 8-megapixel f / 2.4 to take images wide angle thanks to its 120º lens. The last one arrives with a resolution of 5 megapixels with aperture f / 2.2, very suitable for blurring. On the front, Samsung has added a 24-megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, so the quality of the selfies is also guaranteed.
Photo captured with the Samsung Galaxy A9
With the triple camera of the Galaxy A8s you will also get good shots. It has a configuration of 24, 5 and 10 megapixels, very similar to that of the Galaxy A7 of 2018. While the first sensor allows us to take normal photos, the second is the one dedicated to depth of field, and the last is a wide angle. The front camera is identical to that of the A9, with 24 megapixels of resolution.
Battery and connections
Regarding autonomy we will say that the Samsung Galaxy A9 is slightly above the A8s. If we look at figures, the first equips a 3,800 mAh, while the second is 3,400 mAh (both with fast charging). It is not really a very noticeable difference, also everything will always depend on the established configuration. In our tests, the A9 performed very well for a full day. Even using the camera a lot, browsing or checking email and social networks, the phone arrived at the end of the day with more than 30 percent autonomy. We have not been able to test the A8s at the moment, although we imagine that it will be very on par. It would be interesting to check it more closely considering the screen it equips.
Samsung Galaxy A9
Regarding connections, both offer a wide range of options: Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac (2.4 / 5GHz), VHT80 MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), ANT +, GPS or NFC. On the other hand, the two devices arrive governed by Android 8 Oreo along with the customization layer of the Samsung Experience company. We hope that very soon they will be able to update to the new version of the Android 9 Pie platform.
Price and availability
The two mobiles are already on sale at a similar price. The Samsung Galaxy A8s can be obtained online at eGlobal Central at a price of 375 euros with free shipping. Orders usually take about 6 to 9 business days. The Galaxy A9 is priced at 475 euros in stores such as Media Markt, although it is possible to purchase it cheaper through Mobile Cost, where it costs 365 euros plus three euros of shipping costs.
We hope this article has helped you to finish deciding. As a final conclusion, we can say that the A8s is a perfect phone for users looking for a large screen without giving up the photographic section. The A9 is the best option if you want to show off your camera thanks to its four built-in sensors. In addition, this model does not disappoint in battery, with a duration for more than one day of use.
