Samsung has officially unveiled its new Galaxy A series. Phones that were previously called the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 have been released as the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 + (2018). Unsurprisingly, Samsung's new mid-range smartphones feature a large Infinity Display and dual front cameras. In addition, they include a renewed design, more power and performance and a double selfie camera on the front.

Infinite screen and new design

Of the two, the Samsung Galaxy A8 + is the one with a larger panel. While the standard version has 5.6 inches, the vitaminized goes up to 6 inches. Its resolution is Full HD + and offers an aspect ratio of 18: 9. The South Korean has taken great care with the design and we cannot deny that the new Galaxy A8s are very similar to their current flagships. The new models are dressed in a metal and glass chassis. Its edges are slightly rounded for easy grip and there are almost no frames. On the back we find the fingerprint reader to facilitate payments or increase security.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 + is not too heavy or thick a mobile. Its exact measurements are 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm and its weight is 191 grams. We can say that Samsung has done a good job this year with this terminal. The year has closed with a flourish.

Dual front camera for selfies

Another of the great highlights of the Samsung Galaxy A8 + is located in the photographic section. This year the company has included a dual camera for selfies on the front of 16 and 8 megapixels with aperture f / 1.9. The new sensor also boasts Live Focus to adjust the blur to our liking or the portrait effect. The goal is to get higher quality selfies. For the rear Samsung has incorporated a single 16 megapixel sensor with PDAF, flash and aperture of f / 1.7.

Inside the new Galaxy A8 + there is also room for an eight-core processor, with four running at 2.2 GHz and another four at 1.6 GHz. We will be able to choose between two versions of the terminal. One with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage or another with 6 GB or 64 GB of space for data. Both the 32 GB and 64 GB versions can be expanded by using microSD cards.

As for the rest of the features, the Samsung Galaxy A8 + also comes with a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The phone is also IP68 certified and Always On Display technology.

Price and availability

Samsung's new Galaxy A8 family will land in different markets during the month of January. They will be available in four different colors: black, orchid gray, blue and gold. It is rumored that the basic version of the A8 + is around 500 euros.
