The Galaxy A7, for its part, is not far behind when it comes to the photographic section. It has a triple main camera, and it also matches the front camera with the A9. The terminal also boasts a version with 6 GB of RAM, which accompanies an eight-core processor. Both phones are available to buy now, although the A9 as a pre-order (it will be released next November). While the A7 costs 350 euros (4 GB + 64 GB of internal space), the A9 goes up to 600 euros. Design and display
At the design level, these two Galaxy A are very similar. They are built in glass and metal with a front without the presence of frames. We do see an even greater reduction in the case of the Galaxy A9. This model offers a profile that appears slimmer. The truth is that in terms of measurements, the A7 is thinner and less heavy. It measures exactly 159.8 x 76.8 x 7.5 mm (168 grams of weight) vs the 162.5 x 77 x 7.8 mm and 183 grams of weight of the A9. Turning it over is where we see the most significant difference. Not only because the A7 has three sensors and the A9 four (both, yes, in a vertical position). Also, because the A9 includes a fingerprint reader right in the center and the A7 lacks it in this place. Specifically, it is located on the side, a less visible and more comfortable place for many users who already think that this feature is affecting the design. So this may be a good reason to go for the A7 over the A9. However, it should not be overlooked that the A9 has a larger panel and also more protagonist on the front, with fewer frames on both sides.
Samsung Galaxy A7
The screen of the Samsung Galaxy A9 has a size of 6.3 inches, that of the A7 is 6 inches. In any case, both are Super AMOLED type and offer a Full HD + resolution of 1,080 × 2,220 pixels. The aspect ratio is 18.5: 9, as is common today. Logically, when choosing one model or another, there are no very marked differences in this section, but the A9 panel is slightly larger and gives the feeling of stretching more.
Samsung Galaxy A9
Processor and memory
In terms of performance, the two phones are very on par. Both have an eight-core processor running at a speed of 2.2 Ghz. We do not know the exact model of chip that powers the Galaxy A7, but in the case of the A9 it is a Snapdragon 660. Samsung announced two versions for the A7 model, one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage and another with 6 GB and 128 GB of space. In Spain the first version is marketed, so if you want to have more capacity and RAM you will have to buy the Galaxy A9. This one comes with 6GB and 128GB of storage. However, either device can expand its capacity by using microSD-type cards.
Samsung Galaxy A7
Photographic section
There is no doubt that the most characteristic of both the Samsung Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A9 is its photographic section, even more so in the case of the second. If you are not willing to spend more than 400 euros for a mobile, do not worry because the A7 will not disappoint you when it comes to taking photos. The terminal has a triple sensor, which combines a 24-megapixel lens with f / 1.7 aperture, with another 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with f / 2.4 aperture, and a third 5-megapixel lens.(with 120 degree angle and f2.2 aperture). The 24 megapixel main lens is equipped with four pixels in one for good captures, even if the light is low. We can say that this sensor is the one with the most workload. The other two are those that achieve the popular blur effect, better known as bokeh, which gives more prominence to one element of the image compared to others.
Samsung highlighted at the time that the 120-degree lens offers the same angle of view as the human eye. What does this translate to? Basically, in that it is possible to have more natural and real images. Imagine that you want to take a capture of a moving scene or a landscape. In both situations, the team promises to capture a snapshot as if it were taken with a professional camera. To all this we must add that it has an artificial intelligence system to achieve higher quality scenes.
Samsung Galaxy A9
The Galaxy A7 also includes various effects to enhance photos. One of them is the Pixel Binning mode, which groups four pixels into one for better captures when the brightness of the environment is scarce. It is also possible to use the Live Focus option, with which you can adjust the depth of field to make use of the bokeh effect. We can't wait to see the Galaxy A7 in action to see if this is all as good as it paints. For selfies, the company has behaved and included a 24-megapixel front camera with f / 2.0 aperture. In this case, it is the same that comes standard with the A9.
But if you have some more money saved and want an even better photographic section, do not hesitate to buy the Samsung Galaxy A9. It is the first phone on the market to include a quadruple main sensor. The terminal houses a 24-megapixel main camera with f / 1.7 aperture, another 10-megapixel f / 2.4 (for two-fold zoom), as well as a third 8-megapixel f / 2.4 to capture wide-angle photos thanks to its lens of 120º. The latter has a resolution of 5 megapixels with aperture f / 2.2, perfect for blur. On the front, the South Korean has included a 24-megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, so we also expect high-quality selfies.
Samsung Galaxy A7
Battery and connections
If you usually look at the battery a lot when choosing a new mobile, you have to bear in mind that the Samsung Galaxy A7 equips a smaller one. It's 3,300 mAh, instead of the 3,800 mAh available in the A9. In addition, the latter has fast charging. It is true that the difference is not too great, except for fast charging. We really won't notice much longer life with the A9. It is very possible that with normal use, either of the two can perfectly hold more than a full day.
Regarding connections, both offer a wide range of options: Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac (2.4 / 5GHz), VHT80 MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), ANT +, NFC or GPS. Also, both devices are governed by Android 8 Oreo along with the customization layer of the company Samsung Experience. We are also confident that very soon they can be updated to the new version of the Android 9 Pie platform.
Samsung Galaxy A9
Price and availability
As we've mentioned several times throughout this article, the Samsung Galaxy A7 is now available to buy now. Its price is only 350 euros (4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of space). The Galaxy A9 is expected for the month of November, although a pre-purchase is already possible. This model costs something more: 600 euros. However, it must be borne in mind that it has four cameras and a 6 GB RAM plus 128 GB of storage.
