A couple of months ago, Samsung showed off the new Samsung Galaxy A51 and A71, two terminals that come to replace the Galaxy A50 and A70. The two main differences between these two devices stem, on the one hand, from the size, and on the other, from the price. With the two models settled on the market, it is time to ask yourself which mobile is worth buying in 2020. We have had the opportunity to test both to answer this question.
The Galaxy A51 for small hands, the Galaxy A71 for big hands
So is. The most tangible visual difference stems from the dimensions. The screen diagonal is 6.5 inches on the Galaxy A51 and 6.7 inches on the Galaxy A71. In physical terms, the difference is 0.5 cm in length and 0.3 cm in width.
It may seem like little, but it really makes the difference between using the mobile with one and two hands. Surprisingly, both have a similar weight despite having a battery with different capacities.
If you put the camera before other sections, you do not have to opt for the Galaxy A71
I already mentioned it in the Galaxy A71 review. The only difference that we find in the Galaxy A51 with respect to the Galaxy A71 in the photographic section is found in the main sensor, since the rest of the sensors (wide-angle, macro…) are practically identical, even that of the front camera. And is that while Galaxy A51 has a 48-megapixel sensor, the Galaxy A71 uses a 64-megapixel sensor.
The quality of the latter is somewhat better in conditions of low light and definition in general, but it is not worth spending the 110 euros of surcharge for this difference. In any case, we invite you to take a look at the respective analyzes to see for yourself these differences.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 is worth it for the performance
One of the big problems that I found when testing the Galaxy A51 has to do with the performance of the terminal. When it comes to opening apps and multitasking, the phone is slower than expected in this price range. To this must be added the failures that I found in the Samsung layer, especially in the camera application and the lock screen when unlocking the device with the fingerprint.
I don't know if these problems have been solved in later versions, but everything indicates that the hardware of the device is quite fair. Interestingly, the performance in games was quite solvent, so I do not rule out that it is simply an optimization problem. In any case, the Galaxy A71 has a much more stable and agile performance when performing the same operations.
Autonomy can make a difference
The difference between the Galaxy A71 versus the Galaxy A51 on battery is exactly 500 mAh if we merely look at the numbers. This figure makes the difference if we talk about autonomy. And for testing, a button.
After two weeks of testing, the Galaxy A71 gave me an average of 8 hours and 20 minutes of screen time. As for the Galaxy A51, the phone threw an average of 7 hours and 20 minutes, that is, an hour less than its older brother.
Ironically, the charging times are longer on the Galaxy A71 despite having a more advanced fast charging system: 1 hour and 45 minutes compared to the hour and 20 minutes of the Galaxy A51.
The price, the main difference
As of today, the two terminals can be purchased on Amazon at a price of 290 and 400 euros respectively. Deciding between one terminal or another depends entirely on our budget. However, from tuexperto.com we recommend you opt for the Galaxy A71 if we can stretch the budget a little more.
The difference in performance is such that the user experience between one and the other varies completely, although I do not rule out that the performance of the Galaxy A51 has improved with the latest updates. Ideally, you should try both devices in hand to see what each offers.
