This year Samsung has renewed its A range with the addition of new models for the mid-range. Among them are the Samsung Galaxy A40, Samsung Galaxy A50 and Samsung Galaxy A70. During its release, the devices left a very good feeling for their value for money, something that never goes unnoticed by the vast majority of users. However, all three offer different characteristics, which can be a problem when choosing one or the other.
As you may be thinking, as we go up in number, the benefits are improving. Thus, of the three, the Galaxy A40 is the simplest, although it does not lack current functions, such as a double camera, a notch screen with hardly any frames or an eight-core processor. One step ahead is the A50, a terminal that already includes a triple sensor, a slightly larger panel and battery, or a fingerprint reader under the screen. For its part, the Galaxy A70 is perfect if you are looking for a mid-range phone that has some characteristics of high-priced mobiles. This is a large panel of almost seven inches, up to 8 GB of RAMor a battery that reaches 4,500 mAh (with fast charge). If you have doubts about which one to buy during 2019 and you want us to help you get out of your doubts, keep reading.

Design and display
All three models have a very similar design. They are made with a coating called 3D Glasstic, whose construction is made of plastic with a curved glass finish. It is not glass as such, although it simulates it very well. In addition, it gives them a very shiny finish, which changes in tone according to how the light is giving them. If we focus on its front part, both the Galaxy A40 and the A50 or A70 arrive with leading panels, with almost no frames, although with a notch or notch to house the front camera. These are stylized mobiles, whose thickness ranges between 7.7 and 7.9 millimeters.
Samsung Galaxy A40
One of the main differences between these models is found in the screen size. If you are looking for a more discreet mobile, with a panel that does not exceed six inches, in that case, opt for the Galaxy A40. This has one Super AMOLED of 5.9 inches with FHD + resolution1,080 x 2,220 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy A50 stays halfway through the three with its 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen, also with Full HD + resolution (1080 × 2340). If you are one of those who love large panels, then do not hesitate to get the Galaxy A70. Its size reaches 6.7 inches, also with Full HD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080) and Super AMOLED technology. To all this we must add its ratio of 20: 9, very unusual for phones, and that will make you have a more immersive experience when using it.
Likewise, it is necessary to highlight another marked difference, which may be decisive when choosing one model or another: the fingerprint reader. The Samsung Galaxy A50 and A70 include it under the screen, which leaves its back cleaner of elements. However, the A40 has a physical fingerprint sensor, located on its rear.
Processor and memory
This trio of devices house eight-core processors inside, with RAM and storage that increases as we go up in level. The Samsung Galaxy A40 is the least demanding. It includes an Exynos 7904 processor, a chip that has eight process cores, two working at 1.8 GHz and another six at 1.6 GHz. This is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, expandable through Micro SD cards of up to 512GB.
The Galaxy A50 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 9610 of the house, a chip that also has eight process cores, although in its case more efficient. Four of them, the most powerful, running at 2.3 GHz and the other four working at a clock speed of 1.7 Ghz. For its part, it offers a RAM of 4 or 6 GB and an internal space of 64 or 128 GB, expandable through microSD cards of up to 512 GB.
Samsung Galaxy A50
If you need a mobile with even higher performance, take the glove on the Galaxy A70. Of the three, it is the most powerful thanks to its eight-core processor based on an architecture of two cores at 2.0 GHz frequency and six cores at 1.7 GHz. Its RAM memory can be 6 or 8 GB, depending on the version, with storage 128 GB (expandable through microSD type cards).
Photographic section
While the Samsung Galaxy A50 and A70 include a triple main sensor, the A40 is satisfied with a double, somewhat simpler. In fact, if this section is not too important for you, the terminal has a 16-megapixel main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture, which is accompanied by a second 5-megapixel sensor with f / 2.2 aperture, which is the one that is handles the bokeh photos. Selfies, yes, will not turn out badly thanks to its 25 megapixel front sensor and f / 2.0 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy A70
The triple photographic system of the A50 is composed of a 25 megapixel main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture and autofocus. This is accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle with f / 2.2 aperture, along with a 5-megapixel third support lens with f / 2.2 aperture. This has different functions, such as detecting depth to get captures with a selective focus, which you can modify once you have taken the photo. It also functions as an intelligent camera, capable of taking advantage of the Bixby assistant in order to recognize objects to offer Internet information about them, or even translate texts. In addition, it can recognize up to 20 scenes, being able to apply filters that improve the final result automatically.
But of the three, without a doubt, the Galaxy A70 comes out winning when it comes to this section. Like the A50, the device also comes with a triple camera. In your case, we have a main sensor of 32 megapixels with an aperture f / 1.7, a second sensor for wide angle with 8 megapixels and a degree of vision of 123º and a third sensor with five megapixels and an aperture lens f / 2.2, in charge of photos in depth or bokeh. The selfie camera is not short either. It consists of a 32 megapixel sensor with a focal aperture f / 2.0.
Battery and connections
If you tend to focus a lot on autonomy, you may prefer the A70. This model is the one that houses the largest, 4,500 mAh with fast charge. Right behind is the A50 with a 4,000 mAh, also with fast charging. The one that comes off worst is the A40. Its battery is 3,500 mAh (with fast charge). However, taking into account that its specifications are lower, the most logical thing is that the difference is not much noticeable and it can last a whole day without problem.
Samsung Galaxy A40
Regarding the connections, the three mobiles have a 4G LTE connection, WiFi 802.11 b / g / n Dual, GPS GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB type C. In this sense there are no differences. Finally, it should be mentioned that they are all governed by Android 9 Pie under the customization layer of the Samsung One UI company.
Prices and where to buy
Despite their notable differences, the price range between the Samsung Galaxy A40 and the A50 or A70 is not very wide. The first can be purchased through stores such as Fnac or Media Markt at a price of 230 euros. For its part, the A50 is on Amazon for 310 euros plus three euros of shipping costs (with 128 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM). Finally, the Samsung Galaxy A70 (with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of space) is available at Fnac or Media Markt for 380 euros.
