Design and display
The three terminals have a practically similar design. They are built with a coating that Samsung calls 3D Glasstic, which is made of plastic with a curved glass finish. However, we cannot say that it is crystal as such, but it hides it quite well. In addition, it gives them a glossy finish, which changes in tone according to the light they receive.
Samsung Galaxy A20
If we look at the front, both the Samsung Galaxy A20 and the A30 or A40 arrive with a main panel, with hardly any frames (even smaller in the case of the A40) and a notch in the form of a drop of water. The back doesn't make them very different either. The devices have a fingerprint reader located in the center, with a double camera in the upper left corner arranged in a vertical position. The company logo also appears right in the center. In terms of measurements, there are practically no differences. They range from 7.8mm to 7.9mm on the Galaxy A40, so they're pretty slim to carry around.
At the screen level, and although it may seem incredible, the Samsung Galaxy A40 is the one with the smallest panel: 5.9-inch Super AMOLED with a FHD + resolution of 1,080 x 2,220 pixels. The one that is best provided of the three in terms of size and resolution is the Samsung Galaxy A30, whose screen, also Super AMOLED, is 6.4 inches with FHD + resolution. The Galaxy A20 maintains the same size as the A30, but in its case the resolution drops to HD + (720 x 1560 pixels).
Samsung Galaxy A30
Processor and memory
The performance of these three teams is also very similar, although as we go up in number it also increases slightly in power. Thus, the most cut of the three is the Galaxy A20. This model is powered by an Exynos 7884 processor, an eight-core SoC (two running at 1.6 GHz and the other 6 at 1.35 Ghz), which goes hand in hand with a single version with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).
For its part, the Galaxy A30 also houses an eight-core processor, in its case two of them running at 1.8 GHz and the other six at 1.6 GHz. This chip is accompanied by 3 or 4 GB of RAM, in addition 32 or 64 GB of expandable storage. Therefore, we have two versions. Finally, the Galaxy A40 includes within its chassis an Exynos 7904 processor with eight cores, two running at 1.8 GHz and another six at 1.6 GHz. It is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal space (expandable by microSD up to 512 GB).
Samsung Galaxy A40
Photographic section
We enter a section that everyone usually looks at with a magnifying glass when it comes to getting one model or another. The most complete of the three, as you might expect, is the Samsung Galaxy A40. At the rear it has the same double camera as the A30. That is, a first 16-megapixel sensor with f / 1.7 aperture and a second sensor for 5-megapixel bokeh photos with f / 2.2 aperture. The difference between the two lies in the front camera housed in the notch. While that of the Galaxy A30 has a resolution of 16 megapixels with aperture f / 2.0, that of the A40 offers a resolution of 25 megapixels, also with aperture f / 2.0.
The photographic section of the Samsung Galaxy A20 is the most restrained of the three. The terminal includes a dual 13-megapixel sensor with f / 1.9 + 5-megapixel aperture with f / 2.2 aperture. On the front we have an 8 megapixel secondary sensor with f / 2.0 aperture. Any of the three may be enough if you are looking for a mobile to take photos without excessive quality, which is often said: photos to get out of trouble.
Samsung Galaxy A20
Battery and connections
If in the photographic section the A40 is the most complete of these three members of the A family, in the case of the battery the opposite happens, it is the one that comes out worse. The Samsung Galaxy A20 and A30 equip a 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging, but the A40 lowers its capacity to 3,100 mAh, a reduction that will be noticeable enough in the time of use without going through the plug. However, this model also has fast charging, which will allow it to be charged in more than half in a few minutes.
Regarding the connections, the three Galaxy A offer a wide range of options: 4G LTE, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type C and NFC.
