South Korean Samsung bets hard. Very strong indeed. So much so that their plans involve having sold 100 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy Note mobiles in any of their versions before the end of the year. These are not secondary data extracted from a consulting firm, but rather it has been JK Shin himself, the company's head, who has revealed them at Analyst Day 2013, an event in which the firm reviews its objectives for the section end of the year, anticipating their forecasts.
In this way, what is put on the table is the possibility that the two ranges of reference mobiles of the company add to the end of the year a whopping 100 million terminals, which includes the most modern models (Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S3, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2), in addition to those that preceded them in sales, in case they remain in distribution.
They are not the only interesting facts that have emerged from the presentation of JK Shin. In addition, he recalled that Samsung is number one in sales of smartphones and consumer mobile phones, coinciding with being the leader in revenue. He also took the opportunity to claim Samsung's status as a pioneer in the incorporation of LTE and LTE-A technology in its devices, with which to access fourth-generation mobile Internet networks.
According to Samsung, this 2013 will end with a world park of more than 1,000 million smartphones. Now, according to data from Strategy Analytics, published last week, the third quarter of the year closed with global sales of 251.4 million units. And in fact, following what was exposed by this consultancy, the South Korean company sold 35.2 percent of all of them (88.4 million units, in total). Samsung, however, alludes to a 21 percent penetration in the global share of smartphone sales for 2013.
This data is linked to another, according to which Samsung would have revalued its brand associated with the manufacture of smart phones in recent years. So much so that although in 2010 ”” the launch year of the first generation Samsung Galaxy S ”” only thirteen percent of users considered Samsung in high regard in this market, in 2012 and 2013 it became the number one choice, with 30 and 38 percent support in the preferences consulted, respectively.
On the other hand, JK Shin has also talked about tablets. Samsung is putting a lot of effort into consolidating this section of its catalog, and it does so with increasingly attractive terminals and clearly delimited in their concepts according to power, screen size, integrated functionalities and, of course, prices. With this, the South Korean firm believes that the year will close with a world park of tablets made up of some 240 million units. Of all of them, about 40 million terminals will be from Samsung, having already registered17.6 million sales in this market during the first half of the year.
