It is set to succeed the Samsung S5230, although it has fewer features. In many ways reminiscent of the Samsung Corby. It is expected to go on sale from next June and its price will be adjusted, in line with its technical sheet.
Display and connections
It is striking that Samsung has dwarfed an already small screen by touch technology standards, such as the Samsung Corby, to the 2.4-inch Samsung Champ. It is TFT resistive type and offers a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Resistive panels have the disadvantage of a lower level of sensitivity to touch, since a greater pressure must be exerted. In return, they better withstand the damage caused by dust, sand and other external elements. Have been addedthree shortcut keys to backspace, make, reject, receive or end calls. The measurements of the terminal are very light. Only 80 grams of weight and 96.3 x 53.8 x 14 mm. Its accelerometer sensor makes the contents change automatically from vertical to horizontal view just by turning the mobile. The user interface is the TouchWiz Lite. In the start menu there are four shortcuts to different applications, such as Facebook, Music, Google or Samsung Apps, the online download store of the South Korean company. In a lower bar we find the keyboard, agenda and menu.
The section on wireless connections is very limited. We are facing a 2G device, operating on GSM frequencies at 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz and on GPRS and EDGE Class 10. It is not compatible with 3G networks and lacks WiFi access. In other words, browsing the Internet becomes an excessively slow task, which is somewhat incoherent with its vocation as a terminal focused on social networks. On the other hand, it does have Bluetooth version 2.1 with audio profile 2.1. Thanks to it, it is possible to attach accessories such ashands-free kits or wireless headsets. As for the physical connectors it includes a port microUSB and an audio output standard 3.5 mm.
Multimedia
Like the vast majority of mobiles today, Samsung Champ comes with a camera. A separate issue is that it has real utility, which is not the case. With its sensor only 1.3 megapixels, you will not be able to capture images with a minimum quality. On the other hand, we must not lose sight of the fact that it is a low-end device whose main virtue is to put touch technology within the reach of all pockets. It also shoots video at a low resolution, 15 fps. On the other hand, the audio and video playback is not bad. Supports MP3, WMA, eAAC +, MP4 and H.263 formats and tunes to FM radio with RDS. The initial internal storage capacity is 30 Mb, but can be increased up to 8 Gb using microSD memory cards.
Battery and availability
Like other non-professional cut Samsung models, it is available in various colors, black, coffee brown, pink and white. Its measurements are 96.3 x 53.8 x 13 mm and weighs a comfortable 80 grams. It is expected to appear throughout the month of June. The price has not been announced officially, but as noted, is expected to not be expensive. In reality, it seems to become a terminal that the operators offer for zero euros if any of their plans are hired. The battery is lithium-ion and has a capacity of 1,000 mAh, which gives it a range of 666 hours in standby mode and up to 12 hours of talk time.
