Samsung has announced that it will present an Android device on November 8, at an event that will take place in New York City. The company has chosen to generate suspense and has not clarified what kind of gadget it is. However, judging by the cartel announcer, it has all the earmarks of being a tablet or smart phone.
It would not be the first alliance of the South Korean manufacturer with the Google operating system, materialized in the Samsung Galaxy S i900 phone. But there could be an important novelty, will the device include version 3.0 of Android ? If so, it could be one of the first to run under Gingerbread, the platform's codename.
In fact, many rumors have pointed in that direction. Even so, given that the policy of both companies currently goes through information secrecy, it should not be ruled out that it is actually a terminal with Android 2.2 (alias Froyo). Back to the image that heads the post, we see that the device, whatever it is, will come with a camera, a media player and the ability to make phone calls. The Android Market icon is not missing, which means that it will allow the download of applications from the Google online store. Others suggest that social media and communication in general will havea prominent role. But everything indicates that we will not finish answering questions until two weeks have passed.
In the case of equipping Gingerbread we would find a few novelties regarding Froyo, although none that is truly groundbreaking. In fact, from certain leaks it is extracted that Gingerbread would be version 2.3 of Android and not 3.0, as it has been called so far. The real relief would not come then until early 2011 with Honeycomb. In any case, if the leaks are true there will be interesting changes. As the ability to make video conferencing and voice calls over Wi-Fi (VoiP). In addition, it would have support for the YouTube video portal and the Google Docs office suite. The user interface would have also been redesigned to give it a simpler appearance and more refined lines. If in effect on November 8 we see a double coming- out, we will have an opportunity to confirm (or qualify) these features.
