- Samsung drops in sales like the rest of the manufacturers
- Possible causes: the price and a market crowded by mobiles and brands
The pace of sales in the segment of smartphones and mobiles has been reduced during a good part of this 2018. Precisely today a news has come to light that confirms that Apple is reducing the manufacturing rate of its iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max due to low demand from users. It seems that this trend does not affect only the brand of the bitten apple. According to the Korea Herald newspaper, Koh Dong-jin, the CEO of Samsung in the Mobile Department, has acknowledged that the company is going through a crisis in terms of the level of sales of its terminals.
Samsung drops in sales like the rest of the manufacturers
That less and less mobile phones are sold in Spain and the rest of the world is a fact. Apple has already announced a decrease in the rate of sales of its smartphones, and the rest of the companies have been suffering this trend throughout this year and part of 2017. Sony is a good example of this, and now Samsung is joining this downward trend.
This is confirmed by one of the CEOs of Samsung through a message to their employees in South Korea that the Korean media collects. The message in question reads as follows:
"Sorry about the currently struggling status of the Samsung smartphone business and will do my best to overcome the crisis with the upcoming Galaxy 10 and foldable phones."
Employees have also spoken in relation to the aforementioned message. So we can read it on the Korea Herald website:
“Koh's message appeared to show how much of a critical position Samsung's mobile business is in at the moment. The atmosphere within the company is currently serious as we hear outside criticism toward the products ”
If we translate both statements into Spanish, we can see that Samsung is putting all the attention in relation to the sales of its smartphones. Referring to the data, the company recorded during the past quarter a profit of just over 1.95 billion dollars (that is, 1.95 million dollars) in mobile sales. The previous quarter the same company registered around 1,370 million (1,370,000,000 dollars). This represents a decrease of more than 30% in sales only of mobile phones.
Possible causes: the price and a market crowded by mobiles and brands
As for the causes of this drop, the factors that have affected the rate of sales have not been specified. However, the trend of other brands such as Samsung confirms that it may be due to the high cost of most mobile phones, not only from Samsung, but also from other manufacturers.
On the other hand, it should be added that more and more brands offer cheaper devices with similar specifications to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9. That is why the South Korean company is putting all its efforts into the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy F, the two new devices that are supposed to arrive in February 2019. Will we see any change in the final price of these? Will that of the rest of the mid and low range mobiles go down? We will see it in the next few months.
