"Mobile network not available in Huawei", "Not available for voice calls", "mobile network not available in Movistar",, "Problems with Vodafone"… Just do a brief search in Google to know the problems that various users are experienced with their Huawei and Honor phones. Apparently, EMUI sends a notification that the mobile network is not available, preventing access to the Internet through mobile data. Unfortunately, there is no single solution to fix this problem, so we are forced to apply a series of more or less functional methods.
Turn Airplane mode on and off
It may seem like a little elaborate solution, but the truth is that some users have assured that it works. What the Airplane mode does is completely disconnect the mobile network to force its connection again with the antennas of our telephone operator. Just press the corresponding button in the quick settings bar to activate Airplane mode.
After a few minutes, we will deactivate the mode in question to force the connection to the mobile network.
Set up the APN of your operator again
The APN of our operator defines the network configuration that our phone needs to connect correctly to the antennas. Although this configuration is usually carried out automatically by the system itself, it may present some type of incompatibility if we use a little-known virtual mobile operator (MVNO), such as Simyo, Lowi, Pepephone or Amena.
To configure the APN manually we will have to go to the system settings, specifically the Wireless and networks section. In Mobile networks we will click on APN to delete the existing APN. Then, we will create a new one with the data provided by our network operator in the SIM card manual itself or by searching the Internet for "APN" next to the company name. For example, "APN Movistar", "APN Lowi" and so on.
Force 2G, 3G or 4G connection
From the same previous menu we can force the connection of the phone to the 2G, 3G or 4G network in Preferred network type. To rule out connection errors, it is advisable to try each of the options that the section presents: automatic 2G / 3G / 4G, automatic 2G / 3G, 2G only…
Once the connection is reestablished, we can return to the option that is active by default, which in our case is 2G / 3G / 4G automatic.
Choose automatic network search in Network operators
Without leaving Mobile Networks, we can play with another parameter that can help us find the solution. We are talking about the Network operators section, which allows us to configure the search for the operator's network manually or automatically. If the option that comes by default is active, we can try to deactivate it to reactivate it after a few minutes. With this, we will force the system to search again for the network of the operator that is registered in the APN that we have previously configured.
Reset the network settings of your Huawei mobile
Another method that we can use is based on resetting the network settings to eliminate any incompatibility with the phone. We can do it from the System section in Settings. Then, we will click on Reset and finally on Reset network settings.
After accepting the operation, the phone will delete all the networks previously registered in the mobile, from WiFi networks to Bluetooth devices.
Clean the SIM card tray or change the compartment
Not everything is in the software. Sometimes, it may be the case that the problems are due to a bad connection with the pins of the SIM card. In these cases, it is advisable to clean the card tray by blowing air from the outside.
We can also try to change the compartment SIM card in case our phone has dual SIM.
Force close the SIM Tools app
SIM Tools is the application that controls all the system processes related to the network services provided by the SIM card. Faced with a possible failure of the application, we can force its closure through the Applications section in Settings. Within the Applications submenu, we will use the search engine to find SIM Tools.
Finally we will stop its execution by clicking on Stop or Force close.
Check if your mobile is unlocked
If we have purchased the phone through a telephone company, it is most likely that the network is limited to the services of the operator in question, an especially popular practice in some Latin American countries. To rule out this limitation, we can try to insert the SIM card of another operator.
In the event that the problem persists, the network is most likely limited, so we will have to resort to the operator itself or a third party to unlock the phone.
And if none of the above works…
The best thing is to completely restore the mobile, not without first making a backup copy of the data that we do not want to lose. The easiest way is to turn off the phone completely and start it with the following key combination:
- Power + Volume up
Applying this combination of keys, the mobile will show us a menu similar to the one in the following image:
Now we just have to click on Clear data to format the device completely. The process can take several minutes, depending on the speed of memory reading.
