The portabilities are fashionable. Or that is what the latest report from the Telecommunications Market Commission suggests. The CMT monthly note reveals that in December 2010 a historical record of portability was achieved, in addition to a much higher number of millions of new lines. Both fixed and mobile. In the second case, many users decide to change operators to get a new terminal, at a better price and much more powerful. That is why it is not surprising that more and more people want to save a few pennies with the portability strategy.
In this way, and according to the report of this state body, in December 2010 a whopping 506,938 portabilities would have been achieved in mobile telephony, while in fixed the result would be 202,984 users or clients who would have materialized the change in the last month of the year. At this point we must not forget that there are many who use portability to get better counter offers from their own operator. The truth is that seen like this, the numbers presented by the CMT constitute a record of successfully closed portabilities.
As if this were not enough, the CMT has also reported favorable data regarding new registrations. And it is that in December 2010 a total of 404,534 new lines were registered. A 34.55% more than in December last year. Meanwhile, operators like Yoigo and Orange are the only ones to save themselves from negative balances, since both companies have registered an increase in positive (or incoming) portability of 472,583 and 238,648, respectively. Vodafone has fallen with 573,389 departures andMovistar has done the same with 220,912 fewer clients. With all the changes, ups and downs, mobile lines in Spain have grown up to 3.2% in 2010, with a whopping 56.49 million. That is said soon.
