One day after the historic end of roaming in Europe, the main Spanish operators have already prepared their mobile rates with this integrated expense. For all of you who have questions about your own rate, or want to know those of other operators, we have prepared this comparison for you. We are going to reel off all mobile rates, both prepaid and contract, for Movistar, Orange and Vodafone.
Movistar
Movistar's current rates are four contract and three prepaid. All of them are useful for the entire Spanish territory and, as of June 15, also for the area of zone 1 (European Economic Area). The countries that make up the European Economic Area are: all EU countries + Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
Movistar contract rates
Let's now look at the contract rates one by one. # 2 is the cheapest, it costs 15 euros per month. It consists of calls at 0 cents, with a call establishment of 25 cents. The first 10 SMS cost 20 cents, and then they are free. As for data, 2 GB is offered.
Rate # 6 goes up to 26 euros per month. It offers 200 minutes of calls to landlines and mobiles, and 6 GB to connect to the Internet. The excess of spoken minutes will be charged at 21 cents per minute. The first 10 SMS will cost 20 cents, and then they will be free.
We go to rate # 10. It assumes unlimited calls and SMS and a connection of up to 10 GB to surf the Internet.. Rate # 10 costs 34 euros per month. Finally, we come to rate # 20. The most expensive, costs 45 euros, and includes 20 GB of Internet connection and free calls and SMS.
All rates include the same rate for when we go beyond the contracted GB. In this case, we are charged 1.5 cents for each new MB consumed, with a maximum of 2 GB. An important notice: as of June 18, the extra megabytes will cost 2 cents per MB, in all contracts, with a maximum of 2 extra GB. Here you have a small table summarizing the information:
Movistar prepaid rates
We now turn to commenting on Movistar's prepaid rates. There are three, as we mentioned before. The Habla 6 rate costs 6 cents per minute (in Spain and the EEA, from June 15), with 25 cents of call establishment, and does not include data. Outside the EEA, the call establishment goes to 36 cents per minute, and the minute rate depends on the country. Habla 6 does not have a fixed fee.
The next prepaid rate is # 1. With a fee of 9 euros for 30 days, it includes calls at 3 cents per minute, with a call set-up at 25 cents. In addition, it offers 1 GB internet connection.
The last prepaid rate is # 2. It assumes a fixed fee of 15 euros. Includes calls at 0 cents a minute and 2 GB to surf the Internet. The call establishment is 25 cents.
In the last two rates, it will only be possible to continue browsing after the contracted connection is exceeded if an Extra 200 MB Bonus is contracted. This bonus offers 200 MB at maximum speed for 2 € valid for seven days. Another option is to hire the Daily Internet Rate (€ 3/300 MB at maximum speed, valid until 11:59 p.m. on the browsing day).
Starting from the cheapest, we have the Ardilla rate, which costs 9 euros per month. Calls cost 1 cent per minute, with a 20 cent call setup. Includes 500 MB to connect to the Internet. The price of SMS is 18 cents.
The next rate is the Essential. Includes calls at 0 cents / minute, with 20 cents call setup. The Internet connection is 1.5 GB, and the price, 13 euros per month. As before, each SMS will cost you 18 cents.
The Habla rate also offers 1.5 GB of Internet connection, but calls and SMS are unlimited. The price then rises to 23 euros per month.
We move on to the GO rates. They are more expensive rates, designed to offer a very large data consumption. The first one that we comment on is the Go Play. It offers 100 minutes of calls and 10 GB of Internet connection. It costs 26 euros per month.
The Go Up is next in price. It offers less connection megabytes than the Go Play, 8 GB, but on the other hand we have unlimited calls. Its price is 33 euros per month.
Finally, we come to the Go Top. This rate includes unlimited calls and 20 GB to surf the Internet at 4G. Its price is 45 euros per month.
All calls include a pre-activated rate for when we spend all the contracted megabytes. We will be charged an extra 1.5 euros for every 100 MB. If we want, we can deactivate it and continue browsing at a reduced speed.
Orange prepaid rates
Let's now look at Orange's prepaid rates. There are five of them, and they cover a wide range of prices. The Habla rate costs 6 cents per minute, without a fixed cost and without an Internet connection. The Navega rate costs 9 euros and includes 1 GB of Internet connection and calls at 0 cents per minute. In both cases, the call establishment is 20 cents, and the text messages are 18 cents.
We move on to the Go prepaid rates. The Go Walk costs 10 euros and offers, for 30 days, 1.5 GB of connection and 20 minutes of calls. Once the minutes are up, calls would cost 6 cents a minute.
The Go Run rate costs 15 euros and includes 2.5 GB of Internet connection and 40 minutes of calls. Finally, the Go Fly increases the Internet connection to 3.5 GB and 80 minutes included. It costs 20 euros. In both cases, the excess of spoken minutes is charged at 6 cents per minute. We see it quite clearly in this table:
Vodafone
We finished the selection with Vodafone. The red operator has taken advantage of the end of roaming to offer a service that for now is unmatched by anyone. The calls and the connection of any rate are valid for Spain, the countries of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Albania, Turkey, and finally the United States.
Vodafone contract rates
Let's take a look at Vodafone's rates. The cheapest is the Mini Voice, which includes calls at 0 cents per minute with call set-up at 25 cents and SMS at 12 cents. As for Internet, the rate includes 100 MB of connection to surf at reduced speed. Its price is 10 euros.
The Mini S rate costs 16 euros per month. It offers calls at 0 cents with an establishment of 25 cents and 2 GB of connection to navigate.
We arrived at the Smart S. This rate includes 200 minutes to talk on the phone and 6 GB of Internet connection, and costs 27 euros per month.
Red M is next in price. It costs 37 euros per month and has 10 GB of Internet connection and unlimited calls. Lastly, Red L costs 47 euros and also has unlimited calls, but increases the connection to 20 GB.
Except for the Mini Voice rate, SMS are free and the extra connection megabytes are charged at 2 euros per 200 MB, up to 2 GB.
In addition, all rates currently offer a discount of 20% of the price for six months if we do the contracting online.
Vodafone prepaid rates
We finish the analysis by looking at Vodafone's prepaid rates. The cheapest is Vodafone Fácil, which has no fixed price and offers calls at 6 cents per minute, without an Internet connection. The call establishment costs 25 cents.
The Vodafone Fácil Smartphone costs 5 euros for 30 days and includes 500 MB to connect to the Internet. Calls cost 6 cents per minute and call setup is 25 cents.
We go to the Vodafone Yuser rate. It costs 10 euros and includes 15 minutes to call and 2.4 GB to navigate. The Vodafone Superyuser offers 30 minutes and 4 GB of connection, and is charged at 15 euros. Lastly, we have the Vodafone Megayuser. Its price is 20 euros and includes 7 GB of connection and 60 minutes to make calls.
In all cases, SMS is charged at 12 cents. Regarding the Internet, the excess of megabytes is charged at 2 euros per 200 MB, with a maximum of 1 GB per day.
These have been all Movistar, Orange and Vodafone rates. As you can see, all of them have adapted to roaming, but some more than others. Vodafone includes the European Union and its surroundings as well as the US, while Orange and Movistar are in the middle, including the countries of the European Economic Area, but leaving the US out.
