MIUI does not stand out for being precisely a simple customization layer. Beyond the native options available to the Xiaomi software, the customization box has a series of hidden functions that allow us to enjoy some experimental MIUI features. One of these test features are known as 'internal magic tools', an option that we can find in the Xiaomi Camera application. But what are these magic tools really? And most importantly, how are they activated in MIUI? We see it below.
How to activate Xiaomi internal magic tools
To activate these tools in the MIUI Camera application we will have to resort to an external file explorer that allows us to create files within the internal memory of the phone. From tuexperto.com we recommend CX Explorer, although we can use any other browser.
After having downloaded the application in question, we will go to the DCIM folder and create a file through the browser options with the following name:
- lab_options_visible
Now we will only have to scroll to the MIUI native Camera application. Within the application we will go to the Settings tab.
A list of experimental options will automatically appear, generally in English, with the name of Additional Settings.
Of all these options, the one that interests us is the one with the name 'Internal magic tools'. Once we have activated the option in question, we recommend restarting the Camera application so that the settings are applied correctly.
So what are magic tools?
At this point, you have probably wondered what these tools are for. Today this option is intended for the activation of Xiaomi experimental algorithms.
With each new MIUI update, the company introduces a series of improvements that are applied to Xiaomi's post-processing algorithms. Thanks to this option we can test some of the camera novelties introduced by Xiaomi before they officially reach the rest of the MIUI versions. These novelties do not come in the form of new options, but are applied directly in the capture of photographs. Dynamic range, HDR, Portrait mode, night photography…
