Each new version of Android that appears on the market is aimed at making the job easier for its users. Do the same, but in fewer steps and more efficiently to be the fate of an operating system that this year leads to its version number 10 without the previous one having yet reached a significant number of devices. Each version, as we say, has its own advances, its new functions to lighten the 'work' and brings a new 'smart' layer to the terminal itself.
In this case we are going to deal with a new function that appeared in our lives included in Android 8 Oreo, released in 2017. It is the 'smart text selector'. As you already know, when we select a piece of text on Android, different actions appear that we can do with it, such as copying, cutting, searching the Internet, etc. Wouldn't it be great if, for example, when selecting an email we had a direct access to the Gmail application? Or when we selected a phone, another access to call directly without having to go to the application itself and paste the number?
Your smartest device thanks to Android 8 Oreo
As soon as you see a phone number, an address, a phone number written… press and hold that fragment of text with your fingers. Select all the text you want to consult and release your finger from the screen. If you have done everything correctly, a small pop-up window will appear, with several options, the first being the one you must take to travel the right path. When you press this option, depending on the application, a new window will open and you can continue working with it without having to make any other movement.
This smart selector function appears by default on any mobile that has, at least, Android 8 Oreo installed. If your phone does not yet have the penultimate version of the operating system, you can check on the Internet if your brand will decide to update it or if, on the contrary, it will be worth it to buy a more modern terminal.
