Main differences between sony xperia z and sony xperia z ultra
Table of contents:
Recently, the Japanese company Sony increased its catalog of terminals with a new member of the family: the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, a larger version of the manufacturer's flagship (Sony Xperia Z), and with more power than usual. However, there are some traits where the similarities are obvious; while in other respects the differences are notable. And we are going to list the latter for you below:
Display and layout
Perhaps, in the external design there are not too many differences: Sony has chosen to implant in the new Sony Xperia Z Ultra the same chassis that it presented for the first time in the original model. However, while the Sony Xperia Z gets a thickness of 7.9 mm, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra the company has managed to lower this figure to get only 6.5 millimeters.
Meanwhile, the screen of both teams are Full HD, following the trend of this year, and that can also be seen in other equipment on the market. Now, the size of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra panel reaches 6.4 inches, ranking in the phablet sector, while the Sony Xperia Z has a five-inch diagonal.
Of course, both teams are capable of withstanding the most adverse situations and could be the ideal companions for the most athletic users. And that both Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z Ultra can get wet, withstand shocks and are completely isolated from dust.
Power and memory
Another of the most prominent sections of the two smartphones is the one that refers to power. And it is that if Sony mounted in its original model a quad-core processor that works at 1.5 GHz frequency, in the Sony Xperia Z Ultra a quad- core processor is attached but that works at 2.2 GHz frequency. Of course, both are accompanied by two GB of RAM.
On the other hand, another feature that has varied from one model to another is the compatibility of MicroSD memory cards. When Sony put its Sony Xperia Z on sale at the beginning of this year 2013, it was compatible with cards of a maximum of 32 GB; this feature changes in the new model and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be able to hold cards with a maximum of 64 GB of space.
Photo camera
On the other hand, the multimedia part gets worse in the new release. And that, even though Sony has one of the best mobile sensors on the market, it has decided to lower the maximum resolution of its new bet: from the 13 Megapixels that the Sony Xperia Z achieves to the eight Megapixels of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. But here is not everything. And is that the built-in Flash of the original model disappears in the large model. Although in the video part there are no differences: both terminals capture videos in Full HD quality.
Autonomy
Finally, a large screen and great power require a battery to match. And according to the data provided by Sony itself, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra achieves an even greater autonomy than the original model, going from 11 hours of talk time to 14 hours. While in idle time figures of 550 hours will be achieved in the Sony Xperia Z and 790 hours in the new phablet on the market.
