Although the next iPhone won't be unveiled until September this year, the rumor mill surrounding Apple's new smartphone is already underway. The first rumors assure that the iPhone 7 will incorporate a design practically identical to the current iPhone 6s, but with two important novelties.
The first of these novelties would consist of the total integration of the rear camera sensor with the housing. The iPhone 6s camera protrudes slightly from the rear. On the iPhone 7 it is rumored that the camera could be located flush with the back cover. To do this, Apple could use a slimmer camera module. This is something that all manufacturers are trying to achieve in their new models. If we pay attention to the leaks, it seems that the first to get it could be the Samsung Galaxy S7.
The other important change that the design of the new iPhone would undergo, would be the elimination of the antenna bands that currently incorporates the Apple flagship. This would mean a cleaner design on the back of the new device, which would now look completely metal. To achieve this, Apple could relocate the antenna strips on the sides and on the top and bottom edges of the device.
These two changes would accompany others that have been rumored recently. It is said that the next Apple device could eliminate the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. According to rumors, Californians would be working on new wireless EarPods or that would be connected through the Lightning connector. The elimination of this connector would mean a reduction in the thickness of the terminal, as well as the possibility that the iPhone 7 was Apple's first waterproof smartphone.
Internally, the new iPhone 7 would incorporate a new more powerful processor and 3 GB of RAM, thus improving the current 2 GB. If Apple continues the line marked other years, this new processor would be 2.5 times more powerful than the processor that incorporates the iPhone 6s. Logically, the fingerprint sensor would still be present.
One of the first rumors that appeared about the new Apple model spoke of news in the camera. The upcoming iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to be able to incorporate a dual-lens camera. Apple would not be the first to incorporate this feature into a smartphone. HTC already implemented it in the One M8 and One M9. A dual camera allows, for example, to change the focus after taking the photo. Another interesting function that the dual camera would incorporate would be a 2-3x optical zoom, this being the first time that the iPhone would have this feature.
Other sources speak of a complete design change, although this seems less likely. However, there are still many months to go before the iPhone 7 is officially presented. If Apple sticks to its regular presentation schedule, the company's new flagship wouldn't arrive until September. So a few months full of rumors await us.
