If there is a phone in which hopes and expectations are building, much more than the next iPhone 7S, it is the Samsung Galaxy S8. After a spectacular Galaxy S7 and an adapted version of the story of the Titanic with its Galaxy Note 7, the focus on the new from the Koreans is so great that not a single movement escapes.
Through countless rumors and leaks we have been able to get an increasingly precise idea of the future Galaxy S8, but there is one detail that is only now beginning to become clear: there will be no buttons on the new jewel in Samsung's crown. The latest leak, through technology journalist David Ruddock, ensures that the next model would say goodbye to capacitive buttons seeking to free up more space for a screen that would take up more space. This information, together with others that speak of an integrated fingerprint sensoron the same screen they make us deduce that the mobile format that is being developed is one similar to the Honor Magic or the Xiaomi Mi MIX, with a screen ratio of 90% and without frames.
It seems that Force Touch technology will then be responsible for the functionality of the Galaxy S8. With a larger and more pressure-sensitive screen ratio, buttons could be integrated into the interface itself without blocking use, as is already the case with camera apps for mobile phones or the controllers of many video games. If this movement is confirmed, Apple would be left alone as the only company offering a mobile with a button, the well-known Home button that in the iPhone 7 was updated to be tactile, but still differentiated from the screen.
The integration in native apps of an Artificial Intelligence assistant (supposedly called Bixby) would also play a relevant role in the operation of the smartphone, giving as much importance to voice commands as to touch controls.
As for navigation within the phone, yesterday we knew another rumor that the Galaxy S8 would include a touch pointer, integrating a tool that until now was owned by the Galaxy Note family. This would be a clue that Samsung could focus their energies on a single model, perhaps with two sizes, Galaxy S8 and S8 +, as happened with the Galaxy S6, burying the Note forever.
Finally, much has been said about the screen resolution for the Galaxy S8. The latest information speaks of a Super AMOLED panel that would be prepared to reproduce virtual reality, which suggests more strongly that a 4K resolution will be chosen, something that would be a pioneer in current mobile technology.
In summary, it seems that the Galaxy S8 is going to be a terminal in which many of the big bets will be concentrated for 2017, a device that will undoubtedly lead the trends for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, we still have rumors for a while since it was confirmed that the new Samsung would not be presented until April 2017 at an event in New York. Meanwhile, we will continue to build this robot portrait.
