Xiaomi's Redmi K30 series grows with a new model, the Redmi K30i. This new mobile has very similar specifications to the Redmi K30, but with an interesting addition: it has 5G connectivity thanks to its Qualcomm processor. However, Xiaomi has wanted to eliminate a feature so that the price of the terminal does not increase considerably by including compatibility with 5G networks. But… Why has Xiaomi decided to sacrifice that feature to include 5G?
The Chinese firm has sacrificed the benefits of the photographic section. Now the Redmi K30i camera has a somewhat sparser configuration than the other versions. Everything, so that 5G does not increase the price of the device. For many users, the inclusion of 5G in exchange for the photographic section may seem crazy, but Xiaomi has its reasons. In the first place, the objective of this mobile is not that a user has versatility in the camera, but that he can enjoy the 5G connection at a good price. If you want 5G and a good camera, you can go for the Redmi K30, but at a higher price.
For now, few companies offer 5G coverage. Vodafone is the only one in Spain and is limited to a few cities. However, in a few months it will not be like that. 5G will expand more and more. Operators will offer rates with this connectivity and many will update their entire catalog with 5G. Therefore, today it is advisable to purchase a mobile with 5G, since in a few months you may have coverage with your operator, and the difference compared to 4G is very large.
The benefits of 5G on the Redmi K30i
First of all, 5G offers much faster download and upload speeds than 4G, being able to download a series in seconds. It also offers better latency when playing games and streaming, something that we will also notice with our mobile. This is what Xiaomi is looking for in its Redmi K30, to be able to enjoy the benefits of 5G without spending more than 800 euros.
Now yes, although the company sacrifices the photographic section, it does not do the same with the screen. The Redmi K30i has a 6.67-inch panel with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and an internal memory of 128 GB. All this with a 4,500 mAh battery, which also includes fast charging.
The Quadruple Low Resolution Camera
What about the photographic section? In this case we have a triple main lens, with a 48-megapixel resolution primary camera. The normal model has a 64 megapixel lens. It is followed by an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, as well as a 5 MP macro lens and another for 2-megapixel depth of field. On the other hand, the front camera has a double sensor, with a 20 megapixel main lens and another with a depth of field of 2 megapixels of resolution.
As we can see, the specifications are the same as the Redmi K30, except for the camera. In the design we see no difference either: panoramic front with hardly any frames and with a dual camera module directly on the screen. Back with glossy finishes and a camera in the center.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Redmi K30i has been announced in China. We do not know if it will arrive in Spain, but if it does, it will be under a new name or model. Only a single version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory has been released, and is priced at 1899 yuan, about 245 euros. It remains at a very interesting price for a mobile with 5G connectivity.
