ZTE has long had the idea of launching a foldable phone. In fact, it even put a model on sale that was looking for that experience, although it had nothing to do with current models. The ZTE Axon M more than a folding phone was a phone with two screens that closed in the form of a book. However, the Chinese manufacturer seems to continue with the idea in mind. Even more so when in this MWC folding telephones have been the main protagonists. And we say that they continue with the idea because a new patent that has come to light clearly shows that ZTE is working on a phone, this time yes, really foldable.
It seems that ZTE wants to offer something radically different from the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X. In the patent filed by the Chinese manufacturer, as well as in the 3D renderings that supposedly correspond to this terminal, you can see a device with a shell-shaped fold. That is, a system similar to the one that appears to be used by the Moto RAZR.
A totally different concept
ZTE filed the patent for its foldable phone in April 2018, but it is now, almost a year later, that it has been approved. Hence, the images of the device have come to light.
In the image you have on these lines we can see a terminal with a large elongated screen that folds in the shape of a shell. Those of you who are some years old will surely remember this type of device.
There are many remarkable details about this curious device. First, the screen does not fold in a proportionate way, but leaves a space "exposed" at the bottom. Apparently, this visible part of the screen could be used for notifications or information that the user should always have in view.
Second, all the buttons seem to be located in the lower zone. This would mean that all the electronics will be located in that area, the top being only part of the panel. Thus, the volume and power buttons are located on the right side of the device. We also see in the patent that the charging connector is in the lower area, along with two grilles that could be stereo speakers.
Double camera on the rear
As for the rear, we have a dual camera module in the main area of the device's body. This is placed in the center and in a vertical position. In addition, in the upper left area of the part that folds up the screen, we have two holes in a vertical position that we do not know very well what they would correspond to. It could be a front camera, showing the image on the part of the screen that is visible when the mobile is folded.
At the moment we do not have more details about this possible folding phone from ZTE. However, we are sure that little by little the characteristics of this curious device will be filtered.
