Samsung would not only be working to perfect the photographic section in its next flagship models. The South Korean is also making efforts to perfect wireless charging. Samsung already offers wireless charging technology in some terminals, although it is only capable of charging a single device. The objective would be for the base to be able to do the same with several at the same time. This would allow us, for example, to charge two mobiles simultaneously (ours and our partner's). Or why not the phone and the tablet.
A registered patent would have exposed Samsung's plans for wireless charging. As can be seen in the image below, Samsung's wireless charging plate would be capable of charging two devices at the same time. Like two phones or a phone and a smartwatch. The patent explains that Samsung's wireless board would detect the type of device placed on the board and then determine the correct charging method to send power to it.
Samsung's patent shows that two wireless charging techniques would be employed. One would be the most common, which is carried out through a process called "magnetic induction." It makes use of magnetism (rather than a connected wire) to send power to a phone. Samsung's patent also says that a similar charging process called "MRI" would be used, which would allow multiple devices to be charged from a single charging pad. These charging methods are covered by the increasingly popular “Qi” standard for wireless charging. A standard that you can see labeled in public places like airports and Starbucks.
While it's still too early to ditch the charging cables, it's clear that wireless charging is getting closer and closer to the basics. The latest Samsung Galaxy phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S7, S8 or the Galaxy Note 8 have capacity for this type of charge, as do Apple's iPhone 8 and iPhone X models, which will be available in Spain in just a few days.
