This has been confirmed by the manufacturer in a press release to the media. Starting today, all mobile phones sold by LG in Spain will have a 5-year warranty. Until now, any LG device sold in the European Union had the legal 2-year warranty that all manufacturers have to offer by obligation. The South Korean company adds an additional 3 years to provide technical support to all customers from Spain.
5-year warranty for all LG mobiles purchased from now on
The brand has just made it official. All users who buy an LG mobile in Spain from now on will automatically enjoy a 5-year warranty. This applies to all authorized dealers of the brand in the country. Also to all the models currently offered by the company in its catalog.
According to data from the company itself, 60% of mobile phone changes by users are motivated by a breakdown or damage to the previous phone. LG has wanted to focus this proposal in an ecological framework to reduce the emissions of harmful gases derived from the manufacture of telephones. Also with the aim of reducing planned obsolescence, in the words of LG's own affiliate in Spain.
In terms of warranty coverage, LG has not specified the points that its new policy will cover. Remember that current legislation requires the manufacturer to take care of any factory-derived damage during the first year. The second year is covered by the store that sells the product, which in turn uses the technical service of the brands to solve any inconvenience.
It is to be expected, therefore, that LG will be in charge of repairing all the phones from the second year. We can deduce that the conditions will be the same as the traditional guarantee. These conditions mean that the brand will only be liable if the damage does not come from misuse of the device, such as immersion in liquids or screen breaks. Still, LG remembers that all the phones in its current catalog are subjected to military testing and are MIL-810G certified.
