Orange is one of the strongest operating companies in the market of our country. Despite the fact that Movistar is at the forefront, the French company that acquired Jazztel a year ago has not stopped growing and the results speak for themselves. After a last push in the third quarter of 2015, the operator has managed to exceed 7.4 million homes with FTTH network coverage and already has more than one million fiber clients in Spain. This growth rate is expected to continue over the next few years with the aim of reaching up to14 million homes in 2020 in addition to covering 80% of the homes in populations with a density greater than 20,000 inhabitants. This first quarter of 2016 also leaves a positive balance for the company since it has increased its income by 1.8% and now reaches 19,185,000 clients. As for 4G network, the company also continues to grow and already has 5,775,000 clients attached to this service, a figure that multiplies those obtained during the first quarter of 2015, thus maintaining its leadership in Spain. In addition, these figures also place Orange Spain as the second country in the group in number of customers in 4G service.
For this deployment, Orange has required an accumulated investment of between 1,500 and 1,700 million euros, something that according to the operator reinforces the commitment of the operator in Spain and consolidates this market as the first for the group by fiber footprint, ahead even from France. This same footprint, which grew by more than one and a half million households in the last quarter of 2015, is being crucial as the company embarks on migrating customers to its new network.
A growth from 78% to 82% of customers who enjoy these convergent offers after the integration of 4G networks and / or fiber conversion that has been due to the migration of many of Jazztel's customers. In addition, Orange has joined the television content by offering very attractive offers in this field. In this field, the French company has reached 365,000 television clients, thus multiplying by 2.8 the clients subscribed in the previous year. Within this television offer, Orange has reached an agreement with Mediapro through which it will broadcast all the games of the League and the Copa del Reyof the next three seasons. These rights were awarded to the company during the audiovisual rights auction held last December.
All this range of offers, in addition to its constant evolution, gets new customers in addition to increasing the loyalty of those already acquired. This confirms that as of March 31, the company had 1,020,000 fiber clients, which multiplied by 3.2 the number of clients from the previous year. Orange continues strong and on the heels of its rivals Movistar and Vodafone.
