Oppo does not have a mobile catalog as wide as Xiaomi's, but little by little they are adding new devices to compete with the Chinese manufacturer that recently launched the Redmi Note 8T and Mi Note 10. Oppo has announced in Spain the new Oppo A9 and A5, two inexpensive mid-range that compete against the Redmi Note 8T and Redmi Note 8 Pro. All you need to know.
The Oppo A9 (2020) is the more powerful of the two, and the one that can be compared with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 P ro, which is precisely also the most powerful of the Redmi Note 8 range. The new Oppo mobile has a design very similar to what we have already seen in other terminals of the Chinese company, such as the Reno 2 or the Reno Z, which I could also analyze in Tuexperto. The rear is made of glass with a rather pronounced curvature to obtain a better grip.We have a triple camera module in the upper area, as well as a fingerprint reader. The Oppo logo is in the center. As for the front, there are no great news here: a 'drop-type' notch in the upper area to house the camera for selfies and a thin bezel at the bottom. The rest all screen with a panoramic aspect, but without double curvature on the side.
For its part, the Oppo A5 is a much more modest device, and that competes with the recently announced Redmi Note 8T (another mobile that I have already been able to analyze) . Its design is very similar to the A9, with that shiny, curved rear, a quad camera, and a fingerprint reader. In addition to the company logo. On the front we see again some minimal frames and a 'drop type' notch, although in this case somewhat more pronounced.

Between the new Oppo A9 and A5 there are no big differences. Both have a 6.5-inch screen with HD + resolution. It may seem like a somewhat low resolution for a screen with such a large size, but this terminal bets everything on its battery: 5,000 mAh, a huge battery that will allow us a duration of more than 11 hours, according to the manufacturer itself. Additionally, these devices have reversible wired charging support. That is, they can act as an external battery to charge other devices.
They also include the same processor, although different RAM and storage configurations. The Oppo A9 has two RAM variants: 4GB and 8GB. Of course, with a single 128 GB version. In contrast, the A5 2020 has 3 GB for a 64 GB internal memory, or 4 GB of RAM for 128 GB of internal storage.
The Oppo A5 also has four cameras.
Where we also see differences is in the photographic section. Again, they are minimal: both models have a quad camera setup. The main sensor of the Oppo A9 is 48 megapixels, while that of the A5 is 12 megapixels. In both cases it is accompanied by a second 8 megapixel wide angle lens, with 119 degrees. As well as a third 2 megapixel sensor for macro photography and another of the same resolution for depth. The selfie camera of the A9 is 16 MP, while that of the A5 goes down to 8 megapixels.
Price and availability
Both models arrive starting this week. They can be purchased in different online stores, such as Amazon, Fnac or Media Mrkt. The Oppo A9 can be purchased at a price of 270 euros for the version with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the A5 2020 will be available for 200 euros for the variant with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. A very interesting price in both cases, which will undoubtedly make you wonder whether to buy these models or the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. Which one do you prefer?
