- Photographs at up to 10x and optical stabilization thanks to Oppo's Lossless zoom
- … And fingerprint sensors on the screen with a larger surface
It was leaked just a few hours ago and Oppo has just confirmed it to the media: the x10 optical zoom will arrive on mobile phones this coming February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The technology presented by the Chinese manufacturer is made up of three independent lenses capable of reaching a magnification of up to 10 points. To date, the maximum amount of magnification was 3. With this new technology, Oppo aims to improve the definition of zoom photos as it is an optical sensor. No digital zoom, with the loss of quality that this entails.
Photographs at up to 10x and optical stabilization thanks to Oppo's Lossless zoom
Oppo announced this afternoon what had been rumored several weeks ago. The company has presented a new technology that combines the use of three independent sensors made up of a periscope structure with ultra-wide-angle, telephoto and what Oppo calls “Ultra Clear Master”. The latter will be the protagonist of the camera system as it is the main sensor responsible for taking the “standard photographs”.
And what about the characteristics of the cameras? Oppo has not given many details about the specifications of the sensors. The only thing that is known for now is that both the main and telephoto sensors will come with OIS optical stabilization to further improve the quality of zoom photography.
The company has also confirmed that the wide-angle lens will have a focal range equivalent to 15.9 millimeters. The telephoto camera, on the other hand, will have a focal range equivalent to 159 millimeters.
… And fingerprint sensors on the screen with a larger surface
Last but not least, Oppo has announced a new biometric recognition technology that improves on the company's current one implemented in models like the Oppo RX17 Pro.
The technology in question is based on a new in-screen fingerprint sensor that increases its surface 15 times more than the previous generation. Another of the improvements introduced by is the “Optical Encryption” system thanks to which we can unlock the phone directly without having to unlock the screen, one of the main disadvantages of current sensors.
As for the implementation date of both technologies, Oppo has ensured that both the camera system and the biometric sensors on the screen will be implemented this year on smartphones. This makes us think that models like the Oppo Find X 2 or the RX18 will come with a triple camera and an improved on-screen fingerprint sensor.
