Can't you decide on a mid-range mobile? Xiaomi has a very wide catalog, but as if that were not enough, the main manufacturers also launch their mid-range models to compete against the Chinese manufacturer that currently goes for the Redmi Note 8 range. Oppo's proposal is these A91 and A8.

The new Oppo a91 and Oppo A8 are two new mid-range terminals with different features. The A91 has a larger screen, a quad camera setup, and a more powerful processor than the A8. In the case of the other model, we find a triple lens, a lower processor and RAM configuration. Of course, with a little more autonomy.

In design there are no great novelties. Manufacturers follow the same line in the mid-range with backs that stand out for their gradient colors and their camera module in the upper area. In the A8 we find a fingerprint reader on the back, while in the A91 the fingerprint scanner is integrated into the screen. In both cases we have a drop-type notch on the front and minimal frames.

Four and three cameras for the new from Oppo

One of the main features of the Oppo A91 is its quad camera. The main sensor is 48 megapixels. It is accompanied by a second 8 megapixel camera, which is used for wide-angle photography. That is, it has a wider field of view. This camera is perfect if we want to take pictures of landscapes or buildings. The third camera, which goes down to 2 megapixels, is used for macro photography, at close range. The last sensor is depth of field, also with 2 megapixels. The Oppo A8 loses this 48-megapixel main sensor to add a 12-megapixel lens. The wide-angle camera is also eliminated, so we only have the macro sensor and the depth of field sensor.

4,000 mAh autonomy

The Oppo A91 with a rear similar to the Huawei P30 Pro and a fingerprint reader on the screen.

The battery is also another of its strengths. In the A91 we have a capacity of 4,000 mAh, which also includes a 30W fast charge. In the case of the A8, it's 4,230 mAh. Therefore, we are going to get a longer duration on this device. It has more mAh and the screen has a lower resolution.

In terms of performance, Oppo has opted to use a MediaTek processor. Specifically, the Helio P70 with 8 GB of RAM for the A91 and the P35, with a configuration of 4 GB of RAM, for the A8. In both cases we find a 128 GB memory for internal storage, which is also expandable via micro SD.

Price and availability

These two terminals have been announced in China. At the moment we do not know if they will leave the Asian market. These are the exchange prices for the different versions.

  • Oppo A91 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory: 1,999 yuan (about 260 euros to change).
  • Oppo A8 with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory: 1,199 yuan (about 155 euros to change)

Which version is best to buy? We must bear in mind that the price difference between one model and another is 105 euros. If you want a mobile where its photographic section stands out, perhaps the best option is the Oppo A91, since it includes a more versatile camera. Also if you prefer more powerful performance and more cutting-edge technologies, such as the on-screen fingerprint reader.

On the other hand, if you prefer a somewhat simpler terminal, the Oppo A8 is a very good option. Its camera is very similar, although it loses some versatility. Of course, we gain autonomy and screen size, something that must also be taken into account.
