Notifications are generally quite useful. But if they are not properly configured they can be overwhelming. We have so many applications installed on our mobile that we can spend the day receiving a multitude of notifications. For this reason, Android allows us to configure notifications to our liking. Or at least manage them according to our needs. So let's see how to configure notifications on an Android mobile.
To manage and configure notifications, we have two methods. The first and most obvious is to use the options provided by the Android system itself. The second is to use one of the many apps that we can find in the Play Store.
From the Android operating system
First we are going to see what options Android gives us to manage notifications. This will save us from looking at the mobile every two minutes and receiving only what really matters to us.
Do not disturb mode
The most essential thing to know is that we have an option called "Do not disturb". We will have this available if we have Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher. What we will achieve if we activate the "Do not disturb" option is to deactivate all notifications, being able to leave active only some essential ones.
Activating the "Do not disturb" mode does not mean that the mobile stops receiving notifications. These will still arrive, but the screen will remain off.
As we said, this mode can be configured. To do this we will have to go to Settings and then to "Sound and notification". Once here, we will enter "Do not disturb".
By clicking on "Allow only priority" we can configure which notifications we do want to show us. We can also let the system manage the "Do not disturb" mode automatically.
How to limit notifications by app
Although the "Do not disturb" mode is fine for some moments, the ideal is to configure the notifications of each application individually. We can also do this from the Android settings menus. We have it in the same place that we have entered before, that is, Settings - Sound and notification.
On this screen we have an option called "Application notifications". Upon entering here we will see all the applications that we have installed on our mobile. If we click on any of them, a new screen will open with notifications from that application. Here we can configure them to our liking.
Apps to block notifications
If the options offered by the Android system are not enough for us, we can always use one of the applications that allow us to control notifications. For example, one of the best known is Notify Block. This application allows us to deactivate notifications from most applications, leaving only the ones that really interest us. The best thing is that we can deactivate all notifications at the same time.
This application also allows us to create profiles and activate them from a widget on the screen. So we can quickly configure the notifications depending on our need.
Another of the best valued by users is Notification Manager, an application that allows us to control application notifications centrally. Like the previous one, it allows us to deactivate all notifications at the same time, as well as create different groups.
In short, with any of these options we can configure the notifications of our Android mobile so that they do not drive us crazy.
