Xiaomi was one of the most active companies in the mobile market during the past year. It launched, as usual, mobile terminals for all tastes. Among them, the Xiaomi Mi 8 and its older brother, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro stood out. So this year we have high hopes for its successor, the Xiaomi Mi 9. Today we have seen new renders that let us see its possible design. And honestly, it looks pretty flashy.
What strikes us the most about this new design is the total absence of frames. We do not see frames either on the sides or on the bottom. And, of course, there is no sign of a large notch either. Instead we find a front camera located in a small "drop" in the central area of the camera.
It is not the first time that the Xiaomi Mi 9 has been filtered, so we already know some features. According to other leaks, it will have a 6.4-inch screen with 2K resolution and 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. And based on these images, the body-screen ratio will be very high.
Powerful technical package and triple camera
At the rear, the first thing that catches your eye is the triple camera. The camera module is located in the upper left corner and in a vertical position. We have a module with two sensors and a third sensor separate from it. According to the leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will equip a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 main sensor, a second 8-megapixel sensor and a third 18-megapixel sensor. The latter is most likely a wide angle.
Besides the triple camera, we don't see anything else on the rear. That is, there is no fingerprint reader. And, according to previous leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. It is also said that it will include 3D facial recognition as an alternative method.
Under the hood we will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. Up to 10GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage are expected to accompany it, although only in some versions. The battery is said to have 3,500 mAh capacity and support 32W fast charging. All of this completed with an IP68 certified design.
But the leaks go further and the price has even been discussed. It is speculated that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be launched with a price starting at 3,000 yuan, which is about 400 euros. This would correspond to the model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Although we do not have confirmation, the leaks speak of a possible presentation at the MWC in Barcelona.
