Mobile sales continue to increase around the world. During this last quarter of the year, 400.5 million terminals have been sold, according to the market consultancy Gartner. But if there are some numbers that continue to increase, they are those that reflect the sales of mobile phones from two manufacturers: Nokia and Samsung, the two companies that lead the market today.
Of course, according to the consultancy, the growth compared to last year at the same time, has only been 5.6 percent. And this is because companies have taken advantage of the last months of the year to present their news and focus fully on the next Christmas campaign.
In addition, Gartner is clear, Nokia and Samsung share just over 40 percent of the market, while other companies such as LG, HTC or Apple are in the other portion of the graph. Moreover, in this third quarter Nokia has managed to sell just over 105 million units, while Samsung manages to position itself in second position with 78.6 million units. In fourth position is Apple with figures of 17.2 million units.
In addition, it should also be noted that these figures are expected to continue to increase throughout these two remaining months until the end of 2011. And it is that such interesting phones as Samsung Galaxy Note -that hybrid between advanced mobile and touch tablet-, or the new era of Nokia with its first terminal with Windows Phone as Nokia Lumia 800 should appear on the scene in the coming weeks.
On the other hand, in terms of operating systems, Android is in the lead followed by Symbian, Nokia's icons. And it is necessary to bear in mind that the Google mobile platform is implemented in many of the terminals of different manufacturers, such as Samsung or LG.
