WhatsApp calls don't ring
Let's start with a simple solution to rule out one of the main causes - that the WhatsApp app is the problem. The latest update may be causing conflict with Samsung settings or may be buggy.
If you have taken a look at the forums and nobody reports problems with the latest version of WhatsApp, then try uninstalling the app to start the configuration from scratch. Yes, it is a tedious process, but you can fix the problem.
Pay attention to the permissions that you enable in the installation so that all WhatsApp functions work correctly. And one last detail, go to App Settings >> Notifications >> Calls >> Tone.
You will see that the app has a default melody, but do not stay with those settings and choose any other from the list to apply the change.
WhatsApp notifications do not sound
If you have sound problems with all WhatsApp notifications, then the first option to solve it will be to take a look at the settings.
But this time, we will focus on the permissions that we enable from the mobile settings. To do this, go to Settings >> Applications >> WhatsApp and choose Notifications.
You will see that Samsung breaks down each of the WhatsApp notifications, so you have a fairly wide range of customization. It may seem at a glance that everything is fine, since notifications are activated for everything, but there is a small catch.
If you look at the third image you will notice that the "Group Notifications" are activated, but in Silent mode, so forget about the sound for these types of notifications. So check all notification groups to check that "Mute" is not activated by mistake.
WhatsApp doesn't ring, it just vibrates
Do you have this problem only with WhatsApp or with all applications? If the problem is that all the notifications you receive only vibrate, then go to the Settings of your mobile.
To do this, go to Settings >> Sounds and Vibration, and make sure that you have “Sound” activated, as you see in the image:
And if the problem is only with WhatsApp, then open the app and search for Settings. There are several aspects to review in this section, so go over each group of notifications (Messages, Groups and Calls notifications) and make sure you have the Notification Tone enabled and not just the Vibration.
WhatsApp does not ring when I have mobile data
In this case, the problem may be a simple configuration. Samsung has different settings to control data consumption, so that they do not become a headache for users.
One of them is Data Saving. If you have it activated, some applications may have blocked some functions in the background.
But don't worry, there is a simple solution for this: you can set exceptions. To do this, go to Settings >> Connections >> Data usage >> Data saver.
You just have to select "Allow with Active Data Saver" and select WhatsApp from the list of applications. That way, WhatsApp can work normally even when you use mobile data.
WhatsApp sometimes rings and sometimes not
If you notice that the sound of WhatsApp sometimes works and sometimes not, it is possible that some Samsung configuration is interfering with its dynamics. For example, Device Maintenance.
This Samsung application allows you to optimize the performance of the device by applying a series of changes, for example, closing apps in the background or that are consuming too much battery. Two criteria that apply to WhatsApp.
You may never use it or activate its functions manually, but the app may have options activated to automatically optimize the mobile. So take a look at Device Maintenance, and make sure you don't have this option enabled.
To do this, go to Settings >> Device maintenance. Select the menu of the three dots and choose Advanced. As you can see in the images, there are a number of automatic adjustments, but the one that interests us is "Automatic optimization".
If you have this option activated, once a day a series of adjustments will be applied to optimize the mobile, among them, close apps in the background. So try disabling it for a few days.
That way you will know if this automatic setting prevents some WhatsApp options from working all the time, including the sound of notifications. And the same problem can arise if the mobile releases memory by closing applications in the background.
As you can see in the second image, WhatsApp is among the suggestions of apps to free up memory. So keep these settings in mind, and test to see if they interfere with the operation of WhatsApp.
And of course, keep in mind that you do not have a Battery Mode or Do Not Disturb activated that prevents WhatsApp from working in certain periods of time.
