Motorola has released an update to its foldable mobile, the Motorola Razr. This new version comes to solve the small problems of the first device. Among them, some failures with the hinge, finishes or the compatibility of 5G networks. In tuexpertomovil we review all the news of this new generation and the most important changes compared to the first version of the Motorola folding.
As the name suggests, one of the main improvements to the Razr 5G is support for 5G networks. The company has had to upgrade the processor and add a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. Previously we found ourselves with a Snapdragon 710. This new processor includes a module that allows the device to be compatible with 5G networks. Although currently there is not a great extension of coverage, different operators are already updating their rates and adding the possibility of connecting in central points of large cities. Orange has been the last operator to activate its 5G network with coverage in 5 cities in Spain.
In addition to the processor, Motorola has also increased the RAM memory in order to achieve better performance when using 5G networks. Go from 6 to 8 GB, as well as 128 to 256 GB of storage. As if that were not enough, they also increase autonomy. Now it has 2,800 mAh compared to 2,510 mAh of the first generation. Of course, it maintains the fast charge of 15W.
There are not only internal innovations, also in the design and finishes. Now it is built in glass and aluminum, providing a much more elegant and premium look than the first generation. The top cover has a glass finish, as well as the bottom area. In both cases with a glossy finish, except for the frames that surround the device, which are made of matt aluminum.

New hinge and same folding screen
Another change is in the hinge. In order not to spoil over time, Motorola has included a protection on both sides to prevent dust or small particles from entering that could damage the device. This is something that Samsung also did with its Galaxy Fold and Huawei with its Mate Xs. Another interesting change is that the fingerprint reader happens to be at the rear.
Of course, the interesting thing about this device is its folding screen. However, this is where there are less changes compared to the first generation. The 6.2-inch flexible pOLED panel with a resolution of 876 x 2,142 pixels remains. In addition, also include a secondary screen on the top cap. In this case with a size of 2.7 inches and a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. This panel is used to view notifications and alerts without having to open the folding screen.
The main camera is 48 megapixels, now with an aperture f / 1.7 and optical stabilization. The front also rises slightly and is now 20 megapixels. It is located in a small notch in the upper area of the folding screen.
Price and availability
With the front screen of the Motorola Razr we can see the time notifications and other alerts.
Seeing the changes in this new model, we could expect a price increase compared to the first version, but this is not the case. Motorola maintains the cost of 1,500 euros for this folding model, which will arrive in Europe this fall. At the moment the exact date is unknown.
