Samsung has released a video aimed at current and future owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It shows how to keep all the information and data of the Note 8 safe. It explains, from the choice of a screen lock pattern or PIN, up to the rear fingerprint scanner settings. It also describes how to perform facial recognition, or how to configure the iris scanner.
Safety first
Security has become essential when opting for an Android mobile. Samsung does not want there to be doubts regarding the one offered by its new flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The device boasts a number of fundamental features when it comes to preserving privacy and general security. One of them is the fingerprint reader, located at the back of the terminal. The company explains that when adding the fingerprint you have to be careful to do so, so that the camera lens is not stained. The same goes for facial recognition. Samsung tells us about the precautions to take, and how to proceed to make it work better.
Before using facial recognition to unlock the device, Samsung tells us that a series of precautions must be taken. It warns us, for example, that people or things that look like us or our image could unlock the phone. Facial recognition is less secure than pattern, PIN, or password. At least for now. For better facial recognition, some factors must be taken into account when registering. Among them, the use of hats, glasses or excess makeup. It is also necessary to avoid low light conditions, or that the camera lens is dirty during registration. Samsung also tells us that it is necessary to check that the image is not blurred to achieve the best results.
Similarly, Samsung helps us prepare to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with our eyes. The Asian firm advises us that we can obtain more results by configuring iris recognition indoors or away from direct sunlight. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, Samsung recommends removing them. Thus, you may not be able to unlock the phone with the iris. To unlock the terminal using this system, the company also advises holding it at a distance of between 25 and 35 centimeters from the face.
Don't forget to install the patches
In mid-September the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 received its first security update. Some patches were included and it was also used to include improvements for wireless charging and the camera. It is very important that, just as you learn to improve the security of the device with the advice of the company, you also update all the security updates that you receive.
Typically, you will get a pop-up message on the device screen when these updates are available. In case you find out about any and have not received this message, you can see yourself if it is available from the settings section, updates. At the moment we do not know if Samsung plans to launch one for the new team soon. We imagine that it will do so soon, as the company wants to keep security at bay. And not only in this model, in all of its catalog.
