- Price to be confirmed
Microsoft has unveiled its new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM mobile phone . This team addresses the entry-level range with a balanced set of specifications that follow the vein of other releases from the brand. The Lumia 540 Dual SIM uses a screen 5 inches with HD resolution, sports a dual - core processor and has a good camera for selfies 5 megapixel promises a good result. All this with the characteristic colors of these models in four different shades (black, blue, white and orange). At the moment we do not have confirmation on its launch date or price in Spain, although it could be around 150 eurosif we look at its reference price in dollars. We tell you all the details of this phone in a thorough analysis.
Design and display
The Lumia 540 Dual SIM follows the aesthetics of the entry-level and mid-range Lumia mobile line, with the use of a polycarbonate casing that stands out from the frame and the screen and a very evident use of color. And it is that this mobile will arrive in four different color configurations: black, white, blue and orange. A casual touch that goes well with young people. The dimensions of this model are placed in 144 x 73.7 x 9.4 mm with a weight of 145 grams. It is not a particularly thin or thin mobile, but the struggle of Microsoft and Nokia before has never been that (at least so far).
In the field of display, a 5-inch IPS panel with an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels is used. This resolution gives a density of 294 dots per inch that will allow us to enjoy a sufficient level of detail for Windows Phone menus, apps and games. The only point where we can notice a certain limitation is when viewing videos or movies in high resolution, although generally we will not have problems.
Photographic camera
Microsoft joins the selfie craze. The American company is aware of the importance that these self-photos have acquired and has introduced a good 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera to be able to take group selfies and cover more space without having to move your hand too far. On the back there is a somewhat more powerful 8 megapixel camera, LED flash, autofocus and aperture angle of f / 2.2. Of course, one of the points that have been left a bit on the sidelines is video recording, since both the rear and front cameras have to comply with 848 x 480 pixels FWVGA recording.
Memory and power
To function, this model uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor with a power of 1.2 GHz. This chip is combined with a 1 GB RAM to create a decent set, although without much fanfare. As for its internal memory, it is placed at 8 GB. In principle, this capacity should be sufficient to cope with normal use of the phone. The expansion capacities go through a MicroSD memory card of up to 128 GB. Microsoft also offers 30 GB of free online space through its OneDrive tool, an interesting option because it is integrated into the use of Windows Phone.
Operating system and applications
Speaking of Windows Phone, the operating system that integrates this device is Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim. It is an updated version that has some notable features, such as the ability to group icons through folders on the main screen to have our phone more organized or a renewed and more complete notification panel. Microsoft has also enhanced this platform with exclusive applications to squeeze all the juice out of the cameras. In addition, we can enjoy the Office applications Word, Excel or Powerpoint, which gives this model an extra appeal for users who regularly work with these tools. Of course, Microsoft continues to face a notable problem compared to other alternatives: its app store does not reach the level of Android or iOS, which can become an important handicap when it comes to betting on the Lumia 540 Dual SIM. Of course, it has already confirmed that this mobile will be updated to Windows 10 when it hits the market from the middle of the year.
Connections
Within the connection section, the most interesting aspect is the ability of this phone to integrate two SIM cards at the same time. It is a very useful function to carry our personal number and work number in the same terminal. Of course, this mobile is not compatible with 4G networks, something that can limit its deployment in markets like ours. Instead, we can achieve good speeds of up to 42 Mbps on HSPA + networks. On the other hand, the connection to the network can also be carried out via WiFi. Connections are completed with Bluetooth 4.0 to synchronize compatible devices, GPS to navigate and position ourselves on the map and a portMicroUSB 2.0 to carry out the charging of the Lumia.
Autonomy, price and opinions
The Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM uses a 2,200 milliamp battery . According to the firm's numbers, we should be able to use the mobile for a 3G talk time of up to 14.8 hours. The time in WiFi browsing is placed at 10.1 hours and video playback drops to 6.9 hours. The Lumia 540 will arrive first in Asia and the Pacific area and we do not know when it will make the landing in Europe (if Microsoft decides to bring it here). If we look at the reference of its price in dollars, it could cost around 150 euros. In short, a balanced phone with a good camera for selfies and a set of features to face the day to day that follows the line of other models of the brand.
