Taking advantage of the start of a new year, the American company Microsoft has presented two new smartphones in the Lumia range: the Lumia 435 and the Lumia 532. The Microsoft Lumia 532 is presented as a mid- range smartphone that incorporates a particularly striking starting price: 80 euros. Among the technical specifications of Microsoft's Lumia 532 we find a four-inch screen, a quad- core processor or the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. HeMicrosoft Lumia 532 will be available in Europe starting in February, and in the meantime let's learn more about its features in this in-depth review of the Lumia 532.
Display and layout
The Lumia 532 comes with a four-inch screen, which translates into a size noticeably smaller than the five-inch average that we are used to seeing in smartphones in recent years. Therefore, the Lumia 532 could be included in the category of compact mobiles.
The display LCD of four inches of the Lumia 532 reaches a type resolution WVGA of 800 x 480 pixels and a pixel density in screen 233 ppi. Again, we are facing a resolution slightly lower than the resolutions we are used to in smartphones with screens of five inches or more, but we must not forget that we are talking about an affordable terminal with characteristics aimed at reducing the maximum possible price of the device.
Measures the Microsoft Lumia 532 reach 118.9 x 65.5 x 11.6 mm with a weight of 136.3 grams. The Lumia 532 is available in four housing colors: black, white, green and orange.
If we were to look for similarities between the Lumia 532 and other smartphones in the Lumia range, the greatest similarity would be found in the Nokia Lumia 530 that was officially presented in the middle of last year 2014. The Lumia 530 incorporates a very similar design measures which are established in the 119.7 x 62.3 x 11.7 mm in size and 129 grams in weight.
Camera and multimedia
The main camera of the Lumia 532 incorporates a sensor five megapixel that can take pictures with a maximum resolution of 2,592 x 1,944 pixels and shoot videos with a maximum resolution of 480 pixels at 30 frames per second. It is a very simple main camera, so we cannot expect high-quality photographs considering the sensor's specifications. This camera does not have an LED flash.
But, although we are talking about a relatively simple main camera, the Microsoft Lumia 532 incorporates the Lumia Camera application. This application allows you to choose different scene modes, customize values such as exposure or contrast, or activate different camera modes, such as burst photos.
The secondary camera, located on the front of the Lumia 532, comes with a VGA- type sensor and allows you to record videos with a maximum resolution of 480 pixels, which can be useful when having a video call from your mobile.
Processor and memory
The Lumia 532 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (model MSM8212 ) processor that runs at a 1.2 GHz clock speed on Cortex-A7 type cores. This processor is accompanied by a graphics processor model Adreno 302 and a RAM with a capacity of 1 GigaByte.
The internal storage capacity of the Microsoft Lumia 532 is 8 GigaBytes, although as in the case of mobiles of any other operating system, the files installed at the factory reduce the real space available to the user to a figure close to the 6 or 7 GigaBytes. This capacity can be expanded using an external microSD memory card of up to 128 GigaBytes.
Operating system and applications
The Lumia 532 has the Windows Phone operating system installed from the factory in its version of Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim. We are talking about the most recent version that currently exists of this operating system, and presumably Microsoft also plans to update this mobile to the version of Windows 10 for mobile phones as soon as it begins to be available to users.
Serial installed applications on the Microsoft Lumia 532 include apps like Skype, Instagram, Facebook, HERE Maps or OneDrive, among many other applications which can be supplemented through the Store of Microsoft.
Price and availability
The Microsoft Lumia 532 will be available on the European market in the coming months for a starting price of around 80 euros.
