Table of contents:
Windows Phone is not very popular in our country. Microsoft's mobile operating system does not even have 2% of the market share. This has made Bill Gates's company lose interest in this system, and proof of this is the news we discovered via Phone Arena. And is that as of July 11, Microsoft will stop supporting mobile phones with the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.
Ignoring update notices
Within that minority of users who continue to use Windows Phone, those who use version 8.1 are an overwhelming majority. Despite Microsoft's attempts to move users to Windows Phone 10, only 30% have made that change. That means 70% of Windows Phone users are still stuck on version 8.1.
Whether due to lack of interest or lack of attention, the truth is that all these users have ignored Microsoft's warnings, and from the 11th they will find themselves alone with the operating system. Truth be told, those who still work with Lumia phones or other terminals with Windows Phone, must feel very alone in their day to day: their isolation in terms of software is total.
Hastening the agony
The arrival of Windows 10 Phone to phones was not accompanied by terminals that supported the system. Phones like the Lumia 550 or the Acer Liquid M330 were among the few to offer it, without much response from the public. That is why the vast majority of devices that stayed with that operating system, worked with version 8.1. And as updates were offered, users made the void.
Perhaps for that reason, Microsoft has opted for a more "drastic" decision. For this purpose of support, the company indirectly "forces" users to renew or die. However, it's unclear whether Windows fans are going to give in to the pressure. The truth is that there are not many attempts to renew the Lumia family or other models with Microsoft's operating system, so it does not seem that confidence in Windows 1st Phone will be restored.
