You take the mobile, turn it on and see that it does not go beyond the logo. Although it may seem like a rare problem, the truth is that it is more frequent than we would like, especially on Android phones. Xiaomi, BQ, Samsung, LG, Huawei, Honor, OnePlus, Motorola, Nokia… No mobile phone is exempt from this problem. In general, the mobile phone gets caught when turning it on in a process called bootloop , and the solution to this problem depends on the mobile we have and if it has a custom ROM or a factory ROM, that is, a version of Android unmodified by third parties.
If my mobile has a custom ROM
In this case, it is most likely that we are aware of the entire process involved in installing a ROM using a custom Recovery (TWRP and derivatives). To solve this problem we will have to access the Recovery through the combination of keys applicable to our phone and perform a Wipe All / Factory Reset.
We can also choose to install the ROM again if we have the relevant file or restore a backup. With all the options that we have just mentioned, we will lose the data hosted on our phone: applications, application data, and so on.
If my mobile doesn't have a custom ROM
In the event that the phone comes with a factory ROM, the way to proceed is similar, although we will have to resort to the brand's own Recovery, commonly known as Recovery Mode or Recovery Menu.
Can bootloop be fixed without losing data? The truth is that no: all data will be deleted, except those stored on the memory card. This last process, by the way, is called Hard Reset, that is, "hard erase" or "extreme erase".
My Samsung mobile gets caught in the logo
Solving the Bootloop problem on a Samsung mobile depends on whether we have a recent mobile (Galaxy S8, S9, S10, Note 9…) or a less current one (Galaxy S7, A5, J7 etc.). In the first case, we will have to access the Recovery using the following key combination:
- Volume Up button and Bixby at the same time
- Power button later
If we have a relatively old mobile, the combination is as follows:
- Volume Up and Home button at the same time
- Power button later
Within Recovery, we will navigate to the Wipe Data / Factory Reset option and accept your application.
My Xiaomi mobile does not go beyond the logo
To solve this problem on a Xiaomi mobile (Mi A1, A2, Redmi Note 5, Note 6 Pro, Note 7, Mi 8, Mi 9, Mi 9T, Redmi 5, Redmi 6, Redmi 7…), we will turn off the phone and press at the same time the following key combination:
- Power button
- Volume Up Button
When we have managed to access the Xiaomi Recovery, we will select the Wipe Data option with the volume buttons of the phone. Finally we will confirm the operation by clicking on Ok.
Huawei / Honor gets caught at startup
By having the same system based on EMUI, Huawei's native customization layer, the process to follow is the same on Honor phones (Honor View 10, View 20, 10, 10 Lite, 9 Lite, 8…) and Huawei (Huawei P30 Lite, P20, P10, P Smart Plus etc.).
- Power button
- Volume Up Button
Once inside the Recovery, we will click on Delete data / Reset factory values. We can also try Empty cache, although it usually does not work. Safe Mode is another option if we believe that an application has caused the Bootloop on Huawei / Honor. In this case the system will reboot normally with the basic services preloaded.
LG gets caught in logo
In the case of LG mobiles (LG G6, G8 ThinQ, V30…) the process is similar, although we will have to enter a different button combination than usual:
- Power button
- Volume Down Button
Within the Recovery Menu, the wizard will ask us directly if we want to format the mobile completely. We will accept the operation and wait for the process to complete successfully.
Lenovo / Motorola does not go beyond the logo
Accessing the Recovery of a Motorola or Lenovo mobile (Moto G5, G6, G7 Power, E5, Z2…) is something different from the usual process. First of all we will have to perform the following key combination:
- Power button
- Volume Down Button
Once inside, we will select the Recovery mode with the Volume buttons and the phone will automatically restart with a screen that will show us an android resting. To access the full Recovery Menu we will have to press the following combination:
- Power button
- Volume Up Button
Finally we will access the complete Recovery, where we will have to select the Wipe All / Factory Reset option to perform a complete Hard Reset.
Nokia gets caught at the start
The procedure for Nokia mobiles (Nokia 3, 5, 7, 5 Plus, 8 Sirocco, 9…) is similar to that of Motorola mobiles. To enter the Recovery Menu we will have to press the following combination of buttons:
- Power button
- Volume Up Button
Then a color screen will appear with some indications in English. If we want to access the Recovery we will have to press the previous key combination again for a few seconds. Finally the phone will restart and launch the traditional menu, where we will select the Wipe All / Factory Reset option.
Other mobile brands (BQ, Doogee, Blackview, Ulephone…)
If we have a Chinese mobile, with a Mediatek processor or the BQ brand, the process is the same in all cases.
- Power button
- Volume Up Button
In the case of BQ mobiles, we will directly access the Recovery of the system. If we have a mobile phone of Chinese origin, we will have to select the Recovery Mode option and then press and hold the Volume Up button to prevent Recovery from appearing in Chinese. Finally, we will click on Wipe All / Factory Reset.
